Away to the team top of the table by three points. Portsmouth are one of only two teams unbeaten so far this season across the top 4 English leagues. Mansfield of League 2 being the other. On paper this is a tough game but can we continue our good run against Pompey and inflict their first defeat of the season. Our lineup looks about as good as it can be at the moment but the bench looks weak. If we go behind and are struggling can’t see us getting back into it. We need to score first or hang in there one goal down at worst. We’ve scored the same number of goals as Pompey but conceded 11 more. We really need that first goal today. Over to you Alfie May. Player of the month. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67318385 https://www.charltonafc.com/news/team-news-two-changes-edun-starts
Sounds like a decent performance against the top of the table team who remain unbeaten. We remain mid table L1 which is our level now. And I think we are just a couple of injuries or suspensions away from dropping a few more places.
Just reality. OK we’re better off than we were under ESI. However, the fact is that we are still below where we finished last season under Thomas Sandgaard. And this side is far inferior to what we had in the days of Roland Duchatelet. If some wish to see all that as good and glass half-full, then fair play for their positivity. But let’s be honest, it’s false positivity isn’t it.
We are below where we finished with Tommy agreed but we’ve only played 16 matches , still plenty of time to climb the table! I’m not getting carried away but I do think we’ve improved of late , not including the second 11 V CVPM, so I’ll take that as a positive and hope things keep improving rather than predict injuries and suspensions and a downward spiral, anyway just got to top my glass up a bit as it appears to be diminishing
Watched the first half on a train going to an away game with local club. First part of the second half ( and the Alfie May goal) trudging up a hill to the ground andvthe second goal sat in the bar with the fans which caused a few laughs as I leapt up cheering for what looked like no reason at all. Thought Portsmouth looked very good, but we fought very well, showed some good stuff going forward, and the McGrandles equaliser was fantastic, and a deserved kick in the balls for their keeper. Great Saturday and Calella won too!
Just watched the goals. "Near-post Norris" probably the worst goalie we've faced this season, thank you very much. Apparently there was a bit of "banter" or something between him and our fans, so to see him make two howlers for our goals must have been fun for the travelling faithful.
When the second goal went in a lot of supporters came over to see what had happened. The general opinion was the Pompey keeper should try out in a different position.
