I didn't really see how it ended up, apart from unsuccessful, but the actual set-play was a good one. The ultimate aim of a set piece is to get the ball into a position where their is a chance for an attacker to get on the end of it or a defender to put it in his own net. If the deliverer gets it past the first defender he has done his bit.
It was a nice set piece just didn't come off.. they don't most of the time regardless of who's taking them. It's easier to defend than attack from set pieces it's just the basics of the game to know this.
Aye, it got into a decent position right in front of goal. More like that would be nice, instead of lobbing it in. We play for set pieces a lot, so it's surprising we have so few routines, atleast 3 of our players dive a lot. Bruno, Gordon & Almiron.
The easiest way to get likes on this forum by the way, is to pop on after a game and demand no one talk about the game. Bizarre. Every other thread on this forum is nonsense, what else can we talk about?
Have visions of you being the only poor sod on the flight wearing ray bans as you return to Newcastle Airport
In truth I'm just a regular bloke that likes a laugh.. no malice or evil is within me . Thought I'd say that given my last post might be taken the wrong way.
Stewardess: "Sir please take off your life jacket while we are in flight mode." Chaos: "I'm not wearing one!"
We have 3 I can think of for corners (short w/backheel along goaline, Short and work it to the edge of the box down the flank and played deep into the box) but wide free kicks, unless it's a short one and try and get a 2v1 or 2v2 down the line, Tripps on the left hand side tries to bend it in (towards goal) and usually ends up getting headed away by the first defender. I'd to see him (or Bruno) try a driven (straight ball) to the back post from the left hand side as the in-swinger doesn't seem to work and i can't remember a goal coming from that type of ball in on that side.
Good to hear I just like to remind everyone once in a while because text isn't the best form of communication.
