I don't remember anybody particularly singling out the atrocities in Mariupol at the time. There was widespread disdain at what Russia were doing across Ukraine, and as I recall a lot of the talk was about how much Russia's actions could escalate to a point where NATO got involved.

Over 1 million sensible people have now left the North after being advised to by the IDF. Contrary to belief on here, they’ve not all been killed on the way out. Not even 0.1% of them have been killed. There’s still stupid people that have decided to stay in an active war zone and many of them are now dead or will die. All them women and children that haven’t been killed by Hamas rockets and gunfire, or IDF missiles, many of them could have been saved by doing the right thing and leaving,
Yeah, you will give one weeks notice to people to get away from a war zone when you have the intent of committing genocide
Your memory serves you well ... but I think the big difference is that the Ukraine coverage wasn't as intense by then; almost as if the press has become rather blazè / routine about the war there after the initial intense coverage as Russia invaded ... another factor, I think, was that 'we' all sort of 'accepted' that there was a war going on in Ukraine... a war between modern 'armies' - the Ukranians (with NATO funding and support) arguably have the better weapons - the Russians have the numbers both in terms of weaponry and troops ... it's a different picture in Gaza with a modern juggernaut army against an armed militia with little or no heavy weaponry ... so no wonder there is growing world concern about the disproportionate number of deaths of Palestinian women and children ... Just my take ... but I see the UN Secretary General has now stated that there are war crimes to be answered for both sides ...
I agree, and I think there's a lot of whataboutery on this thread to try and distract from the very real disproportionate level of violence and destruction that's being conducted by Israeli military right now.
They literally don’t see their own racism on here. One of them, I can’t remember which, had the audacity to talk about Duncan’s and custards racism last week. They don’t understand that racism against the Jews is the same as every other racism.
Ethnic cleansing for sure ... ... but there is at storm brewing ... Netanyahu has already started posturing about how Gaza is to be occupied by Israel for 'security' reasons once the military operation has finished - but even the Yanks are saying that Gaza must remain Palestinian with no boundary shifts ...
The point I'm making is that Russia were being condemned more widely for their actions across the country, rather than any particular city or area.
That's why they attack me with insults, it's a deflection because I will not go away, because I point out clearly what was and what wasn't said.
Exactly. It’s cowardly what they’re doing. Instead of admitting they don’t like Jews, they’re coming out with a lot of whataboutery to deflect attention from their obvious racist views.
I don't remember anyone getting their calculator out to keep a daily running total on the death toll. Some of the comments as CK said just after the 7th October were shocking, they know who they were, but Nagasaki or something ffs.
It's not racist to criticise Israel's actions though. That's what Bibi will have the world trying to believe. Personally I think what Hamas did was atrocious, but I also see it within Guterres comments that it didn't happen in a vacuum. It's not an attack on Judasim to criticise the slaughter of 10,000 innocent lives at the hands of the IDF
... can only speak for myself but I have not once criticised Jewish people or their religion - I have wholly condemned the state terrorism, both historic and current, of the Israeli regime who certainly don't represent all Jewish people ... So no rascism at all - it would be like saying that all those supporting the Israeli actions on this thread are therefore Islamaphobic / rascist against arab people ... I don't believe that to be the case either... ... and there is no comparison to the right wing Xenophobic rascism of Duncan or Custard - they openly aim digs at skin colour with little shame or self-awareness...
This 'you all hate jews' rhetoric is bullshit conflation between criticising Israel and the IDF and trying to link it to being anti-semitic Which is exactly how Netanyahu operates in the real world to try and discredit legitimate condemnation of his actions The us and them narrative in here though more to do with petty personal agendas than anything else
