Hamas will say that the Israeli people voted for a conservative government propped up by zionists and religious nutjobs. As much as I hate to agree with that, I do. The only way to peace in the long-term is for the Israeli electorate to vote in a more conciliatory government, and do it consistently. Yitzhak Rabin had the right idea and made peace with Egypt: he was assassinated.

    And who can blame her!
Mrs Fez retired on the principle of both government and employer incompetence.

If we are to apply international law indescriminately (and it can only be applied in that way to be authentic) then shouldn't Netanyahu be hit with an international arrest warrant for war crimes similar to what has been applied to Putin ? He has actually outdone Putin in as much as more civilians have been killed (and more children) in one month than Putin has managed in two years - discounting all those missing under rubble.

Well, I don't know the numbers, one is too many in my book, but totally agree that Netanyahu should be subject to arrest. I find it quite sickening that the western leaders appear to want to give him support. Equally, I would hand out arrest warrants for the Hamas leaders.
I also find it very disturbing that the UK government are using the opportunity to try and use the awful situation to confuse Hamas with the Palestinians, by calling people who just want peace, "hate marchers".
Macron decreed that no demonstrations should take place in support of the Palestinians, and has been ignored by people who have joined huge demonstrations. Maybe the UK population should get a bit more like the French.

Interesting developments in football in relation to the Israel Palestine crisis. Ajax Amsterdam have banned all national flags from their stadium - Ajax has for decades had an identity which was related to Jewishness and the flying of the Star of David has not been uncommon in the Johann Cruijff Arena, though this has been less common in recent years, this being a positive celebration of the Jewishness of the club's past and that of the area and nothing to do with Zionism or support for the state of Israel (similar to Spurs in England). The club wants to distance itself from this - partly because of fighting between Ajax fans at the last home game against Heerenveen. Flags allowed will be those of the nationalities of individual players, such as the Moroccan flag or that of the city of Amsterdam. I imagine that Spurs and some other clubs with this kind of heritage may have to reign in on this as well.

The BBC hierarchy have introduced social media guidelines for staff, aimed at protecting the Tory government from criticism by prohibiting them from making political comments even outside of their jobs. First to refuse to abide by them, and therefore leave, is outspoken Tory critic Carol Vorderman, who hosts a Saturday morning program on BBC Radio Wales.

Fair play to Carol for standing by her principles - principles being something neither the BBC nor the Tories have. - but I doubt she'll be unemployed for long.

Anyone else think, that not only does Mark Sedwill who was the most senior civil servant, speak like, but even looks like Sir Humphrey Appleby from Yes Minister. The Johnson government was described thus. "It is like taming wild animals. Nothing in my past experience has prepared me for this madness. The PM and the people he chooses to surround himself with are basically feral."

Loads of Tory MP's are posting pictures of themselves at memorials such as this one. Who takes a photographer along when they are supposedly showing respect for the fallen in previous conflicts? I find this quite a cynical ploy, especially with the nonsense from the home secretary and her ill chosen comments.
