interesting read but I dont know of anybody who is complaining about playing out from the back people seem to be criticising messing around at the back which is risky and ponderous play which gives opponents time to set up their ideal defensive formation
It always starts out as playing out from the back. When it goes wrong it becomes ****ing about at the back. When it comes off well it becomes a tactical masterpiece.
Recently your solution was to lock it after 24 hours, while taking note of your first sentence, keep going and it'll be locked before it's opened. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
So, no links to rugby union on the match day thread. I don’t need to be drinking at this time. Unlike some people who can no longer drink because they themselves used to over imbibe.
What if … Seri is not the regular collector of the outball because whilst he has technique he can be slow in playing the ball , so maybe it’s a formation / personnel issue ?
Think this is why I might be critical at times. I agree, watching Man City is boring too outside of games against other top sides. So when we do it if we aren’t winning I’m not only bored but pissed off. We were 3-1 down on weekend, passing it on the half way line, no movement and no interest. Often find it like that without Philogene
For all the talk about styles of play, no one seems to have mentioned that their second goal is a clear example of their passing football from back to front working well, and of our pressing game being taken apart. We like to press high which is an attacking style which comes with risks, as LR has acknowledged, but on that occasion we were the team which got dragged out of position by their playing out. One by one, starting from our attackers, we press the ball and get played around, Seri and Morton both go and get played around and then Jones and McLoughlin both step up high and get played around, leaving Coyle and Greaves as our last line of defence and totally outnumbered.
It was a great example of how doing that with pace and quick intelligent passing works, no player took more then 2 touches and a fair few where 1 touch passes ( if I remember ). We need to do more of it
We do, as soon as the ball passes the halfway line it’s like a hot potato and there’s some quick slick one touch stuff getting it back to the defence.
Don’t know why people are having a pop at Roseniorball. 3-1 down, 15 mins plus injury time to go and we were treated to some superb possession football in our own half for 90% of the remaining time. Get with the programme!
I fail to see any good reason for Allsop to drop the ball at his feet in the penalty area he loses the chance to throw the ball out and when Wallace puts him under pressure he panics and he passes to Seri who is surrounded and he passes to Wallace if Allsop had held on to the ball he could have thrown it to Coyle or Morton who were further upfield if we play kamikaze football the result will be either conceding a goal, manage to avoid conceding a goal by the skin of our teeth or maybe having to concede a corner or throw in even if we ponderously play around at the back and dont take risks we waste time and have a third of the chances to build an attack than if we moved the ball forward at speed
Burnsy quite 'questioning' of Seri and a few others on the latest 1904 Club podcast today, and have to say I agree with much of what he says. Thought it was a good listen with some fair and well made criticisms.
