What is the point of going long, we have no one up front to deal with it, Adams is probably the better option but is neither big enough or interested enough so I see zero benefit of playing like Pulis or Big Sam. I was at Stoke and that was exactly what they were doing with a poor mans Peter Crouch up front and our CBs just lapped it up. Not only that it was truly dreadful to watch, no wonder the Stoke fans weren't making a noise they were probably asleep Sorry mate, RM is here for the long hall, if you don't like it then I suggest you don't go to games because it isn't going to change and going and moans/booing is doing nobody any favours I'm afraid
Anyone still want him gone? 7 unbeaten now - players have clearly bought in and performances are getting results.
The biggest thing is the fighting spirit and togetherness the team is showing. I think there are still fair questions about his style etc. but clearly the players love him and are fighting for him. Love it & long may the good vibes continue
Agree. He seems to have fixed the main problem at Southampton for about 3 years. I’m not 100% convinced about his approach and what would happen if we were promoted, but I can overlook that atm and am happy to have him here.
I voted "he'll turn it around" initially, but if that becomes the majority, I'll switch it to "he's the next Nathan Jones" because I'm reflexively oppositional.
Im still very much in the “we are winning despite Martin rather than because of him” camp tbh. Can’t deny that he seems to have strong support in the squad but I feel the talent of the players at this level is what is getting th results rather than his style
Pathetic really that we even had a poll! I know everyone's allowed an opinion, but unless you voted stick with him, you were/are wrong!!
yeah, it was knee jerk in the extreme, making him the problem when the problem was fans being sick of the last 2 years. Nothing at all to Do w RM. Pleased he has started to get results, long may it last.
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/russell-martin-i-despised-what-my-dad-did-to-my-mum-x6v7vdt9q not sure if this has been posted yet, but absolutely fantastic interview with Russell Martin and his troubled childhood. What a bloke
After Jones I think we were within our rights to question whether SR had made another cock up. That losing run was terrible and our defence was awful. In the same way we should be careful hailing Martin as the next Adkins, it’s still early. The fighting spirit is excellent though and suggests he is generally doing a good job.
