Do you seriously think the manager needs to open his hob at all? He's the one adding details. He can just shrug and say nothing to see here. As he could have with sancho. He's the one mouthing to the press to make himself look in charge and losing the dressing room.
So do you think Gordon was onside ? As far as I could see he was ahead of the GK with only the one defender being challenged by Linton When the ball was played ?
Didn't look like it to me. When Joelinton touches the ball, Gordon’s leg looked further forward. But hard to tell exactly. Tbh was more a push on the defender by Joelinton that I would have ruled it out for. Guy had 2 hands on his back
When the ball is headed back across Gordon is clearly ahead of Raya and only one defender is present so my initial thought was he was clearly offside Gordon has to step back to wrap his foot round the ball to score But I genuinely had no clue if it’s offside or not I thought that maybe because the ball was headed backwards that meant he wasn’t but a few saying that’s irrelevant I haven’t a scooby As I say he just looked very offside to me
If the player is behind the ball when it's passed to him then he's not classed as off-side regardless of defender or keeper position. Have you never seen two players running through clear on goal and one pass it back to his mate to give him the goal?
Yeah seen loads where I thought the ball went forward too and it never gets checked lmao I can see why a few want the shove given Two clear hands but he was on his way down it was interesting As Liverpool weren’t involved I was fine with either lol I do agree with Captain Black that officiating is awful and the only winner atm seems to be City they appear to get their ‘poor’ decision when nothing is at stake or they are 4 up or something of that ilk but that’s probably my red specs lol
The ball didn't look out to me although I've not seen a decent angle yet. People seem to forget it's the entire ball that must be beyond the line for it to be out
Because it wasn't on the goal line itself the technology wasn't there to look at that properly,so it was guesswork. The lino is on the other side of the park so can only guess,I think the ref must have called it. Looked in to me,just.
It looked more out than in, but it’s guesswork as don’t know about the curvature of the ball. Can only go on what it looks and in real time it looked out.
Hate to agree with you, but you may remember that I fought a pretty lonely battle arguing on the Prem Board a few years' back (when I was still allowed on there) on this very point. Oh, and before anybody mentions it, it's irrelevant if the ball goes backward or forward - it's the position of the attacking player when the ball is played that is all that counts, and as you suggest, he doesn't look forward of Foulinton when the ball comes off him. This camera angle malarkey though - we had it go against us at Arsenal last year when Saka was off, but for us against Wolves in the FA Cup after a corner. I remember Pogba scoring at west Ham a few seasons back too when the ball had clearly swung out of play in the build-up, but the lino had his back to it. Surely in the prem in this day and age you can fit 360 degree cameras over the four corners of the pitch and along the sides? My daughter's house has cameras on all four corners of hers (she does live in 'Boro) and her feller fitted them at a cost of @ £300. Really, this is the Premier League, ffs. At least the VAR team wasn't too distracted watching the Ryder Cup this time though...
What! So the ball doesn't have to go backwards, as long as your fellow attacker is behind you it's fine? Surely that's not right.
Bloody hell, I always thought tge ball had to played backwards as well. So you coukdnt slide the ball forward for him to run onto. I'm shook.
