Agree with all of that Jammy.

One other thing on Struijk that’s not been mentioned is the captaincy issue. A few here may remember the early days of Billy Bremner. He was always a top player, but could but a mite irresponsible in the tackle <whistle> however imo blossomed when given the captaincy following the horrific injury to Bobby Collins. He became more aware of his responsibility. Maybe, just maybe, giving the captaincy to the lad, has given him the confidence that(as first choice)he can now get back to his best. Yeah, he’s not seemingly a shouter, but that’s not always critical, he’s improved massively, maybe he has found his level, but we won’t know that, for a while yet.

A massive performance from everyone yesterday, not a weak link anywhere.

On Sky after the game they used the goal line technology to show the ball was right on the line which made it an even better save. Really strong hand from Meslier as had to avoid pushing it onto the post and then either back into play or even into the goal.

I’m totally undecided about Meslier. Credit where credit’s due. Great save but for every one of those there’s the fumble like against Huddersfield and often rank poor positioning that leads to goals.

He'll get alot of credit for that save and rightly so. However, as you imply, that shouldn't mask the glaring errors of the last 3 seasons and his inability to make saves on a consistent basis. I think his last man of the match performance was Liverpool away last season which is criminal for a side who are near the bottom of the table where goalkeepers are given every chance to be the hero on occasion.

Agree. Think Jordan Pickford, he kept Everton up two seasons running.
