This time last year Danny was headed out of F1. Now, if he maintains this form he will have options. I hope he doesn't partner with Max again. Max hasn't changed, just seems smiley cos he is getting his way. I have no hope that the control Max has of RBR will change. They love him and stuff the rest. RBR are the baddies in the pantomine that consequently entertain. They love the image. Best anyone (fan wise) can do is ignore them. Of course, there will be drivers who can't resist the challenge.
Do I trust the teams to give equal opportunity? Nope. I suspect there is the occasional subversive thing that goes on that management don't know about. You never hear the scandals but in my working life there have always been things that are never part of the image. There is no reason why F1 is any different.

    From the BBC:

"Max Verstappen says it is not up to him to help team-mate Sergio Perez try to secure second place in the drivers' championship this year...

....Verstappen said on Thursday: "Last year it wasn't really well spoken about before we got into the race weekend. Let's just hope we don't get into that situation; it is better for everyone."

Better for everyone how? Is that a threat? What a p***k.

Every single race where a car was DSQ'd would need to be annulled i guess. The cheating cars influenced the results of other drivers by being there in turn 1, holding up other cars etc.

Shame for 1984 where i believe Tyrrell were disqualified from the whole year

yeah, but a check on Wikipedia shows they didn't race in every race, so Lauda is still champion with 2 wins, a 2nd and 4th, against Prost's 2 wins and 2 DNF in the 4 races Tyrrell didn't compete.

Why is it about the 2008 Interlagos race that was manipulated to stop him winning the world title?

It's about crash-gate. I believe that since Max and Bernie apparently knew about the manipulation, his argument is that the result of the race should be quashed, making him champion.

Well, if he is successful it does open the floodgates. Lewis only has 6 championships but pinches one of Max's with a legal challenge, making the score 7 vs 2.
It also says budget over runs should be a points deduction in the season in which they occur. Then there is the possibility of the Ferrari issue that was brushed under the csrpet.
I am sure there many more issues that can be challenged.

Is there any precedent for scrubbing a whole race result from the Championship as a result of foul play? I can't think of one. The most recent race manipulation I can think of is, ironically, "Felipe, Fernando is faster than you" in 2010, which led to a fine only.

If anything, you'd expect the "correction" to be the disqualification of Alonso (or the whole Renault team) from the race, which gives Hamilton more championship points. Or you disqualify Renault from the constructors for 2008, but based on 07 the drivers keep their points, and the drivers standings are unchanged?

I think it's a real shame Massa has taken this action, one of the defining images of his F1 career was the grace with which he took the defeat in Brazil 07.

in case anyone has not noticed f1 is a private sport so they can do what they like and have always made up the rules as they go along.

this will all be thrown out.

Pretty sure Prost and Senna may wind up swapping titles.

I am sure a clever lawyer can argue the case. T and Cs agreed to invest in participation etc.

From what Massa's said, his side have set a deadline of Nov 15th for FOM/F1 management to provide documents that have been requested (I presume this is a legal discovery process?). They'll assess those and decide whether the case is strong enough to take to court. Massa has said financial compensation won't be sufficient, so he won't be bought into dropping it apparently.

I just can't see a scenario where they expunge a single race from the record books, I don't think it's happened in F1 before, and even when gambling match fixing or bribes have occurred in other sports, I don't think that result has ever been totally voided? In every example I can find, the result stands and then you penalise the perpetrators independently? Even within F1, Spygate led to Mclaren losing all their constructor's points, but they didn't recalculate the championship as if Mclaren had never taken part. I'm almost tempted to recalculate that, and figure out if Massa should have actually beaten Kimi that year if you do that.

The thing that makes this unique as far as I am aware, is that Massa isn’t suggesting a competitor cheated, he suggesting that the FIA and (but I expect this will be less relevant) the promoter, put their own interests ahead of their duty to regulate the competition.

If so, I don’t really see how the outcome will result in Massa being champion. If something changes and I doubt it will, the only avenue I see is to question whether the FIA were fit to administer the championship and hence to grant titles, the result of which if proven can only really lead to expunging the whole season from the record books,
