I am not off to Chepstow, as I couldn't get a flight home in time! Might as well jump on the Chepstow bandwagon! I have 10% share in The King of Ryhope, going in the 3.15 - might blow up before the last but might have the class to see him through also. Some of Dans have needed the run and we been waiting a few weeks for the ground. Trip on the short side and will be going up in trip after this, just needs to start off somewhere with some juice in the ground. The softer the better.
Three for me at chepstow In rem has been drifting out so at 8s a little ew My main bet is fortuna ligna took 7/2 yesterday now 7/4 Superstylin could go one of two ways but at 18s and 4 places and bog it looks too big . They are traveling for a reason and the conditions could suit with a front run
The Amateur Riders Derby at the Curragh (15:07) gives the Fast Company gelding, Lord Erskine, a decent chance to make the podium at the very least. Should stay the trip OK and on past form will handle the heavy ground. Blinkers applied. Enough said. Miss Meryem Walsh (7) on board for the Harry Rogers yard. 8/1 (Bet365) is the best price at time of writing. E/W best option. (Here's wishing Nass and Stick an enjoyable and successful day at Chepstow, and to all who are having a flutter too)
Ran a good race to finish third. Hindsight, I know, but that early best price of 8/1 was truly amazing, as the first three home were surely the only ones with any sort of chance? 4th horse home was some 11-lengths behind the third. Except for the first three, the SP's of the rest of the field were mostly well over 100/1.
Rock Danse. We were 8/16 in the novice hurdle but he has been off for 670 days through no fault of his own. A good start.
Lovely day at Chepstow yesterday, when Rocky had his first racecourse visit for our syndicate, it has been a long time coming! We purchased him in the summer of 2022, and through no fault of his own (perhaps he could have scanned the ground more) he has had nearly 700 days between his last p2p and his rules debut. "" We were going for the experience, given he had been off for so long, and whilst he looked a picture in the parade ring, we were told to be expecting him to run into the midfield and that he was going to be kept wide to see his hurdles. Liam (Harrison) did this and I think ( @stick might agree/disagree) we should be really happy with the process, if not the complete result (I hate losing!). He was sound this morning too, so its onwards and hopefully we can now push him more and see what we have. "" We managed to get half the syndicate to the course, as seen above, with two smart hats on show, plus one that looks like it should be at Latitude Festival! It was great seeing the folk, lovely to have a chat and even the lunch wasn't too bad.
Nice beard mate Just watched the replay and I think you can be very happy with that after such a long lay-off. Has he schooled over fences at all? I only ask because he gave the first 3 hurdles quite a bit of air so I wondered if he'd already seen a fence? Looking at his style of running, I thought Chepstow might not have played to his strengths. Maybe a flatter, less galloping track next time. Given the proximity of Kempton to Heathrow that might be the best option to suit stick's travel requirements too The winner really impressed me.
He hasn't schooled over fences yet, but they have a fixed brush type hurdle at home, and they seem to give the timber hurdles a bit of respect after schooling over them. I wouldn't say that is his style of running either! The first race on the card will work out very well, and the bumper will too. A very decent card of racing.
