The Spud son in law can't stop laughing. His point is, we signed Pochettino who's won bugger all, Spurs signed Big Ange, who has won everything in every country he's managed in, and has already transformed Spurs with little spending. Maddison is surely the best midfield buy of the last decade, and we payed 100 million each for for Enzo and Caseido, and Maddisons' better than both. Spurs are top, and Poch has still not got us anywhere near the level required, despite half a billion spent on new players. Comparisons are not fair, we have some fabulous players for the future and I have no doubt Poch will make us a threat in the PL sooner than later. Ange, on the other hand can man manage like no other, improve players and teams quickly and responsibly, but at this level will need quality upgrades to really make Spurs a long term top 4 team. Imagine how good Spurs will be when he adds his input, like he did with the Asian players he brought in to Celtic, and he gets the next level players he needs. I think we have the right man with Poch for the short term, but I suspect he won't win anything for us, meaning Ange is odds on for our next manager. If we can afford him when that time comes.
I’m pretty sure that we made the right decision. What you have to remember is that spurs team have been a team for several seasons now and have been playing quite well for a time. Coupled with the release of Kane, more players are able to shine. We’re still very much a work in progress.
All true, but with or without Kane, and Spurs being a team for several seasons, they were pretty hopeless, hanging around the upper middle of the table.. Without Kane they were LESS likely to shine as players or as a team. Ange transformed them in a couple of months, without spending half a billiion quid. His far better assessment of players bought Maddison to Spurs. Thats the difference between him and Poch, Poch agreed to pay 100 mill each for Caseido and Enzo, Ange chose Maddison for less than a quarter of that, and gets the best of all 3 players. He did it in Australia, Japan and at Celtic. Boring mediocre teams win games when Ange comes, and now Spurs are doing the same. Poch is a good manager, but so far Chelsea have not improved one jot with him in charge. That's why I have big doubts about Poch and no doubt long term that Ange is a better man manager, and a better judge of footballers than Poch will ever be.
