Wigan have hit some decent form after their 8-point deduction, and are making their way up L1 towards the playoffs. They will expect another 3 points tonight and Apples will need to find a way to set us up which stops them from playing through our midfield as easily as has been the case recently. Watson for Fraser is a no-brainer, and wee Alfie can't be left on his own up front again. A change in formation might mean sacrificing one of our wingers, probably T. Campbell, but surely it's time we saw C Campbell again? He looked decent.

I think this will tell us a lot about our current level. We know we can beat the really crap teams and we know we will get beaten by all the top teams.
Wigan are a sort of upper mid table team.
Personally I think we’ll be easily beaten - our defence is just too poor and without Chuks even our attack isn’t looking that brilliant. If Appleton plays one striker again we might as well give up and go home.

Thanks for another match thead Penguin - hopefully we will all be on here celebrating afterwards, but it's really hard to imagine that right now! After the miserable experience of Lincoln, who were a team we could reasonably expect to get points from, plus another defeat at home to Bolton, it's hard to see anything more than a halloween horror show at Wigan - have we ever taken a point away from there?

We have the players to hope to get something out of this, but we are also inept at times, and away from home, we are an accident waiting to happen,.

I'll go for a 1-1 draw as Wigan are good but not perfect, but this could be a real slog this evening.

Wigan don’t score lots of goals, but our defence is woeful.

2-1. Alfie May to get his customary goal for us.

Our defence is bound to concede, and if we play 4:3:3 with the wee man up front we won't score twice. I'd be ecstatic with 1-1.

keep it going Carrian - a draw would be a good result for us. Someone on CL said that the fans going north tonight deserve a medal, so check on there later and see if they are dishing them out!

Louie Watson makes a difference to our midfield. Always wants the ball.
