Sometimes, imo, a cover version demonstrates the brilliance of a song and the talent of the performer and is greater than the sum of the two parts ... ... this is one of those
I have loved rock music/ rock and roll music for years I have favourite bands and favourite songs and the 2 are not always the same but I agree that some of the most meaningful lyrics can be found within rock music and it often emotes the feelings of the people of the times and often can span generations. Listening to the lyrics of Sympathy for the devil it is very reflective of the world today never mind back in 1968 when it was released. I think I have a fairly wide range of music I listen to from Jack Johnson to Slipknot and most stuff in between but I often listen to some of the older rock music lately and have been listening to stuff from Creedence over the last few years. Was never a huge fan of U2 until I heard When love comes to town featuring BB King which I thought was a great song. BB King what a lovely gravely fantastic voice
heard a cover of this song from a girl called Lucie Silvas a while back with the full orchestra which is a great cover
lost my mam a while back and my dad a couple of years earlier and it kind of gives you a different perspective on loss. My dad would say life is for the living, make the most of it. In my situation I discovered its not the grand gestures that help, they are great but the everyday little things like popping round for a cuppa or staying there an hour longer just to chat **** and watch a bit of tv with them, I think its time that counts. sorry for your bad news and hope you can both still have time to have a laugh and a cry.
Elvis back after the movie years. The 68 special rescued his musical career culminating in 69 sessions, probably his best since the Sun days
