It's the bun that gets me: just sliced in half and dumped in the box Frankly it has me wondering how often they don't get served in the right formation...
Do you remember those burger / hot dog stands that used to appear at every ground , I used to work next to a warehouse in Wembley where they were stored between games and I can assure you I never ate from one of those ever again , the grills were never cleaned ,the water that the hotdogs and onions stewed in never got changed and the environmental officer was on a nice back hander to look the other way when the complaints about the vermin happened
I do like a visual representation of how much piss we boil More hated than Juventus, but not as despised as Monster Energy Dusseldorf
With the fixture changes announced today is that every match that we have until 23rd Dec V Everton scheduled for live TV?
Only one saturday KO for Spurs from now til the new year !!?? With the two friday fixures I mentioned elsewhere : Looks like the final quarter of 2015-16 is back on the menu, boys !!!
Part of it is playing lots of stupid Friday and Monday games when clubs in Europe can't. The rest is our league position and people actually wanting to watch us play football, again.
As I am sure lots of you are aware alongside my love of Spurs, I have a genuine interest in Gillingham FC too, and this year I have taken a season ticket at the Kent club. I am also sure that many of you will have seen that there was an incident at Priestfield yesterday that is completely unacceptable. I have to say that I have never been so embarrassed to be associated with a football club as I am today, the racist gesture aimed at the Newport striker Omar Bogle after he scored a penalty at the Rainham End of the ground has really left be questioning my position with regards to attending further games. I am pleased that supporters (not the stewards who ignored the moron), ensured that the police were immediately informed and that this person was arrested, charged and banned from attending games at Gillingham for ever with immediate effect, and I hope that is extended to all football and that he is found guilty and heaviest possible sanctions against him taken (prison hopefully). Unfortunately this is not a one off this season, I am aware that Gillingham like all clubs has its fair share of neanderthals, but the club has already had fines for racist, homophobic and sexist chanting, and even yesterday I have heard reports of the Newport physio (a woman) being subjected to vile sexual chants from a couple of individuals and despite this being reported to stewards no further action being taken. Last week someone threw something at the Notts Co goalkeeper as well. When I was season ticket holder previously I don’t recall the stadium being quite so toxic. It’s a very small minority of fans who are responsible for these atrocities, and on only 1 occasion have I been able to pinpoint anyone being a total twat, which was sexist abuse of another female physio AFC Wimbledon I think, and there were 2 behind me, I turned and just asked really? Unfortunately it only encouraged them, and more to join in, I spoke to the stewards myself on that occasion, and was told that they would pass on the seat info to the stadium manager, but no one was asked to leave that day. I did follow up with the club who assured me they knew who they were and they would not be welcomed back, but whether that’s true I don’t know. I love football, but I hate all forms of discrimination, and I am appalled by what happened yesterday and my love of the game took a major knock.
I doubt Gillingham have a worse set of fans than any other club. But I do notice that a lot of lower league clubs attract a hardcore of undesirables. The local team seems to be a focus for local yobs (strangely ones with some spare income who can afford to follow the team home and away). The club is an outlet for the laddish, childish tendencies; drinking, being loud and obnoxious - and sadly, in many cases being violent and/or abusive in the ways you’ve described. It’s easier to be noticed at a smaller club and get away with this kind of behaviour because the resources don’t exist to police it inside or outside the grounds.
The other thing to note with Gillingham is the war between the owner and the fans. They brought in a new owner in January, but the damage has already been done. The old owner called some of their fans "a form of cancer" a while ago. That's just not sensible, however you look at it.
Rodrigo Bentancur recovery video. Interesting watch. Sounds like he took the injury news fairly well, got his head down and worked hard to recover. Seems like a very grounded person, from that. Glad he has some family around him to help him. I think that his comments about feeling like a footballer again are telling. Injury and fitness problems can be very hard on players mentally. It was great to see the celebrations of his return after the win.
Things that stand out about that scorpion kick save for me are; 1) WTF went through his head to make him even think of that, let alone do it ? 2) If he did it in the French league he'd get booked for showboating. 3) If he did it in the Premier league an oposition player would kick him at the next opportunity and the commentators and pundits would say he deserved it for embarrassing them. 4) What a great thing to be remembered for!
