I know I do think we probably could've done better to sign a cb or rw but at the end of the day it was a hole that needed filling. I keep hearing people questioning which areas were covered, but they can only fill holes in the squad over time and it's what's available and how much is available at that time. Its also looking at who's available 3 months to a year later. Fans seem to think its just like writing a list and going into the supermarket and getting exactly what you want.
In fairness this was clearly something they should have foreseen. Barnes only played 165 games in the last 4 years but Diaby played 172, that is almost 2 more games per season and does clearly highlight Barnes was far more injury prone.
Diaby has gone well Barnes hasn't that's the top and bottom of it. What's forseen is irrelevant. We can't forsee how this will look in a year or 2 either and perhaps it might change.
Look, this is what happens if you have a bank account suited for Waitrose, but actually do your shopping in Aldi. The sooner the Newcastle fans realise that FFP has us over a barrel, the sooner they will understand the talk of a 5 to 10 year project was true.
