I've started a petition to ban Children in Need from appearing on any television station that shows programmes in any country within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I am all for the fundraising and I'm sure everyone who dresses up and does something "funny", really does think they are doing something for the kiddies, but the truth is it WOEFUL, ****E, PATHETIC AND TOTALLY UNFUNNY television, with the SAME FECKING PRESENTERS EVERY FECKING YEAR AND THEY WILL DO ANYTHING AND I MEAN ANYTHING TO GET THEIR EGO MANIAC GOBS ON THE TELLY. As usual old Terry's there, alongside some blonde nobody who smiles alot and tries very hard to make it look like this is thgreatestst night of their lives, but the reality for the viewer is that unless you have a brain that just shuts down at the slightest thing, the whole event is dull, boring and predictable. I actually phoned last night and promised them £100 if they stopped the programme and put on the testcard instead, as at least there was something to watch on the testcard. As I say, nowt wrong with the fundraising and fair play to everyone who got off their fat arses and did something to raise money for kids and young adults who need support, but for the love of god, don't ever have this kind of utter drivel on the television ever again. Who's with me? Edit: For the "why didn't you just switch over brigade, I did, but my wife and young daughter wanted to watch Lady Gay Gay and so we had to endure this fecking crap all night, as they show the same things over and over again. I have other tv's and I know I could have moved to another room, but I am old and have a comfy chair!
I call it 'Children in the cellar'. People are sponsored £10 pounds for every child they can fit in a cellar. The proceeds go to Government to pay for contraceptives for the whole country. This would mean, after a period of time, no child allowance, no family tax credits, no schools, no teachers to pay and no CSA. National debt paid off in no time.
Boab, do what I do - tape it & watch it on the fast forward in case there's a good bit (& there are a few, to be honest).
typical leeds fans showing the rest of the country how sad and bitter you are (not all) shame on you, it know wonder leeds are hated by everyone with attitudes like that, you have to feel sorry for the real leeds fans who are tarred with the same brush and cringe at you plastic fans
What really gets me is the Scottish version making a huge deal about how all the money "stays in Scotland". All the money raised in England doesn't stay in England.
I guess the size of population means that if all the money given in England stayed in England, then there would be a massive imbalance throughout the UK. Perhaps they should say, all the money from Liverpool stays in Liverpool, all the money from Leeds stays in Leeds, all the money from Swansea stays in Swansea etc. The problem is very little money comes from donations in London, so the capital would have nowt. I'm always shocked at how little money is donated at things like Children in Need and Comic Relief from London, considering the size of population. I think the last statistics stated less than 4% of money donated throughout the UK comes from London. Big business donates and they are usually London based, but the residential donations are very poor. I would also suggest Simon that most people from Scotland no longer see themselves as British or from the UK, so the people who run Children in Need are making sure that any money donated stays in the country and not given to another country. You may not agree with the Scottish peoples views of not being British, but it is the majority view and the BBC are probably right to have the strategy they have on donations from Scotland.
