I don't know what you think but today I thought we should have had at least 4 penalties. Brighton were still complaining which is laughable. And for their player to get sent off for dissent for the first goal is a disgrace if you consider we should/could have had at least a couple of penalties awarded before that happened anyway. Peter Walton has again produced a shocker today (following his performance when we beat Leeds 1-0 in League One, still the worst performance ever seen at St Mary's). A proper ref today we'd have won by 5 or 6 and Brighton would have finished with less than 10 men, they were embarrassing today. I thought Kelvin looked pretty shakey but the defence was excellent all game, 0 shots on target for Brighton tells it's own story. I thought the midfield and attack were very short of pace first half (on the attack) and our best chance of scoring always looked like being from a Richardson or Fox cross like the first goal. Having said that Chaplow and Lallana who were good through out, particularly Chaplow and Ricky found his touch second half after the goal and was excellent after. Cork played very well, still running and closing down at 3-0 which was nice to see
already another thread on this http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/101409-Peter-Walton-Ref-for-Weekend
No there isn't. Your thread says Walton's the ref for the weekend. It isn't a review of his performance or inviting others to review it. Its just stating Walton's the ref and thoughts on his appointment.
Only 4?? I thought we could have had about 6! Brighton can moan all they like but that ref gave us nothing apart from those 2 pens! He was a disgrace! At the end of the day, they were beaten by a far superior team; a team that plays with honesty and class. Perhaps they should take note.
One in particular that was absolutely stone wall was the foul on Lambert before the 2nd penalty we got. As blatant as it gets, completely pulled to the ground. Also looked to me like Harper took Hammond out rather than him diving, and Guly was pulled to ground first half.. there must be other incidents I can't remember or missed also. This is before we even get started on the hand balls shouts lol
Tarrico had been arguing all game so I don't blame the ref for giving him a straight red! He should act his age! Poyet too! Ref was average, we had a couple of blatant pen decisions against us, and I felt the couple that were given weren't major incidents! However I do not care! Poyet, and Brighton team are major bad losers!
I thought first we looked dis-jointed, Lambert on the right wing-Chaplow in the middle and Lallana all over, but we do play with alot of movement. My major problem with the ref was he was inconsistant, I thought the two earlier shouts for penalties were better than the given ones, ALSO HE GAVE NO PROTECTION TO LAMBERT, the defence were using him as a climbing frame. On the plus side he did try to let the game flow. Lambert top scorer - good Portsmouth lost - very good 5 points clear - better Look on Poyets face - priceless
The way Lambert was held in the box was shocking. Surprised his shirt didnt rip. Nasty bunch of cheats and two penalties should really have been about six.
Just watching TFLS and they said Lambert was practical assaulted when he was denied a pen in the second half. (The one where he got rugby tackled)
They said... you mean the plum which is Claridge. Always take what he says with a pinch of salt. Can't believe that decision wasn't given though.
