... and a return to football after the 'back to the future' game against Stoke. It was just like the ghost of Tony Pulis prowling the touchline with punts from the keeper, endless time-wasting and foul throws the referee somehow missed every fkn time. Anyway, Leicester ... how did they come down and are they the best team ever to be relegated. Filbert Street was always a dodgy place to go, but this new ground is a bit calmer. We always seemed to have trouble down there but they never came near Roker Park ... cowards. I've a few stories about Filbert Street but I'll post one from when we won. Came out after a night match, few scuffles but their hooligans followed the lads going to the coaches. We were followed by half a dozen towards where we'd parked the car ... me, Pete and Steve, from Nottingham, who had a lovely new BMW. We passed that big park, where they always hung around, and onto the unlit back road where we'd parked. We could see the car, at the end of the street, but it felt far far away. These lads were right behind us and starting to make comments. What to do eh ... do we turn and try to back them off or make a run for it, try to jump in the car and get away before they jump us. We got closer and running out of options but we were close friends and knew we'd give it a good go if it kicked off. As we got to within a few cars away we all clicked onto the solution, laughed and reached into a skip on the roadside just past Steve's shiny new car. The builders must've been Sunderland lads because there were three pieces of 2x2 cut into 4' pieces ... they may as well've cut hand grips into them We turned, weapons in hand, ran at them and shouted 'Come on you bastards!' They ran so fast none of us managed to give them a crack ... ... I have few regrets in life but that's up there
Aye there were always large groups hanging around looking for stragglers at Filbert Street, usually though we had quite a few down there that were too many for them to start owt.
Definitely not the stadium, its about twenty quid. The free street parking we used is around Shakespeare street LE2 7NB. It's about 15/20 minutes walk but, by the time you get back, the traffic is starting to clear. Otherwise https://www.justpark.com/search?&ar...coords=52.624252,-1.140568&filters=reservable
I'm lead to believe you can park after 6pm free of charge. That said, l coming up from Rugby, rather than the A6 my normal route. So unsure where l will park yet.
Just checked, parking is free, but check the tariff board, also applies to street parking. Again check tariff board. @Smug in Boots where are you drinking? Looking to find where people are taking refreshments.
Hi mate, I'm only 50/50 for making it, Mrs Smug wasn't in great fettle when I got home this morning. I'll ask the lads now where they'll be and edit this post. It's always well thought out, I just go wherever I'm told
Safe travels to everyone going down, hope the lads can get back to playing how we all know they can. Will be a tough game but I'm sure fans and players will do us all proud. I'll go for a 2-2 draw and a very open entertaining game. Keith Stroud is the ref.
Very good to see you yesterday mate, imagine you had a right carry on getting home, off to this one with one of my lads You heading to Swansea?
I did think about not putting that bit on but him and the Sky cameras aren't a good mix. Fingers crossed he has a blinder and isn't noticed.
Cheers mate, always a pleasure to bump into you and your eternally smiling face. Yeah, turned in around 1am after a 5am start on Saturday, shame we threw the game away when we didn't need to. We just didn't make the most of our better players or the momentum from Clarke's goal and the great support. I'm hoping to get to Swansea, just looking at trains and hotels ... ... you have some lucky lads there.
The lads, from here and elsewhere, will be in the Counting House ... ... 40 Almond Rd, Leicester LE2 7LH ... have a cracking night tomorrow mate
