In fairness a lot of the players looked like they lasted the game. Some of our key contributors (Seri, Delap and Philogene) all looked knackered but they had just come back from internationals
Good to see you've finally got sarcasm nailed (with this and your further post). A budding rival for AY. Erm, u were being sarcastic weren't u?!?
I only saw the first half as my feed went down at halftime, but it was an open game & we played some good football, mainly due to them letting us do so. The one thing I noticed again yesterday, was Seri’s passing. He was more up field than the last few times I’ve seen him, he seemed to be on the halfway line or further a lot more. His passes were better from the halfway point, out to the left & the right, but, at one point he was on the edge of the box, he could have put the ball in, early & had the defence on the back foot, but instead, played a safe pass out to the left, who had to quickly cross it in & by that point, the defence was back in shape & any chance was gone.
There were plenty of times we had the numerical/positional advantage in their 3rd yesterday but either hesitated or chose the wrong option. That isn't the tactics at fault. That's clarity of thinking and confidence. And it will come with stability and familiarity
I used to know the know the lad (or at lest his parents) who used to record these sort of details for Sky when we were in the EPL. An avid City supporter, he found that he couldn't enjoy the match as much and so most of his submissions were a work of fiction - maybe the same system is being employed these days.
If yesterday's performance up to 70 mins was boring then what does he expect from football? It was end to end an entertaining game for the most part.
Were do you get a top 6 budget from? It isn't a fact at all. Budget is between 8th and 10th. But there are 6 parachute clubs for starters then teams charging full price tickets with crowds bigger than our stadium holds. Where has anyone said top 6 budget? The club communications at the start of the season were top 10 expectation with the hope of challenging for top 6. That's not a top 6 budget and top 6 expectation as you have twisted it into and falsely presented as fact.
Southampton may have underachieved away in the first few games of the season, but how you calculate that a squad value of £65m should be favourites against a side worth £235m defies logic.
Apparently Rotherham have asked the EFL if they can give their point back and let Southampton claim all three points Hugely embarassing for them actually competing
I'm sure every club in the top 16 or so will be aspiring for promotion. Whether its a realistic expectation or not to outperform the budget is a very different matter.
Should just give them the 4 points we got off the other 2 parachute sides then cos they only got 1. Seems unfair.
We shouldn't be looking to change just yet, if that times comes then Graham potter would be fantastic, but let's be realistic.....
Jesus. If Potter felt he had to drop down a division then he'd have been at a Leeds Southampton or Leicester by now.
Not when he's playing closer to his own penalty area than the opposition. He's probably thinking 'I'm an England international winger and he wants me to help out at full back.' No wonder he looks xxxxed off. I know it's common practice in the modern game but class players need to stick to their natural position where they can cause more damage. If a defender can't defend by himself he shouldn't be in the team - no room for passengers at this level.
He's an u21 with 1 start and 2 appearances. And you haven't been watching much football in the last 30 years if you think any side can afford the luxury of a winger who isn't expected to be part of a defensive shape out of posession. It's half of his job ffs. And if he can't handle the defensive side then he won't ever be a full international or premier league player.
