We do seem to have some rotten luck with injuries.

Or we could beat Stoke and take a bit of form into the Leicester game ( I think the way Leicester play may well suit us as they wont try and play deep and on the counter but they are a potent attacking force and will be the hardest team we will play this season). I understand the pessimism as do most Sunderland fans but I also believe that now is the time to start looking forwards with optimism and supporting these very talented young lads.
We as a fan base are the key to everything the club are trying to achieve and they need us on board and vocally backing the team wherever possible. We may get beat tomorrow and lose the next 3 or 4 games or we may win the next 3 or 4 games who knows but we all need to show this team that they will have our support and backing even when things don't really go our way like at M'Boro (the fact the PGMOL have apologised speaks volumes).

Unfortunately I do want an apology how else can the referees be held accountable for their actions and improve if all we do is blow smoke up their arse and tell them how good they are when the reality is different. The problem is the assessor made the apology and it should come from Jared Gillet as a bit of humility may serve him well in his next match but whilst he has somebody apologising for him where is his incentive to hold himself personally responsible for his mistakes.
Yes everybody makes mistakes how we deal with them and react to them is how it makes us into the people we are, If we keep making the same mistakes then their are normally consequences IE loss of Job or worse and the same applies to players keep making mistakes and your career tanks (Unless your Harry Maguire <laugh>)
So basically own up to your mistakes and own them, learn from them and develop into a better version of what you want to be and if you want to be a referee learn from your mistakes apologise and become better, don't keep making the same mistakes.

We have already learned a lot last season. This team was up against a wall last season with injuries but still nearly pulled off a Wembley appearance. Yes there is always more to see with new and established players but the team mindset is to win and that is like a breath of fresh air at the moment.

Those of you who are worried about the Leicester game.
If I remember correctly we were feeling the same before the Southampton game.

Aye but we were quite confident before the Boro game ;)<whistle>.

Seriously though I don't think this team should be worried about anyone and I don't think they will be.

Does saying O’Nien could move into midfield get you shot nowadays?

If Luke could keep it simple and read the game (like Evans did) then it might work. It’s when he goes charging around chasing the ball that he looks lost and ineffective sometimes.

If he moves Onien (which I wouldn't be against tbh) and Ballard is out then we will have a brand new CH pairing and I'm not sure he would go with that. A lot hinges on Ballards fitness. Fingers and toes are crossed.

I agree, don’t want to shuffle the pack too much. Plus O’Nein experience could be key if Ballard is missing

Whatever side we put out will be better than Stoke imo, we beat Watford without Pritchard and Ekwah ...

... with the likes of Aouchiche, who I'd play anywhere, and Ba we should have enough to give Stoke a tough game.

They can't defend and will have to attack at some point otherwise the locals will be revolting ...

... even more than they usually are <laugh>

Agreed. I/We seem to focus too much on the people who are missing whilst ignoring the lads we have ready to step up

I remember going into a game against Chelsea with a midfield of Paul Thirlwell and Eric Roy - ****ting myself thinking that we'd get overrun and be on the end of a good old thrashing.

I forget how that game turned out :emoticon-0105-wink:

Stewart was the player most often mentioned, last season, despite not playing ...

... and we almost went up without him <laugh>

    Sorensen
    Makin Williams Craddock Gray
    Summerbee Thirlwell Roy Schwarz
    Quinn Phillips

Subs: Marriott, Holloway (for Summerbee '84), Oster, Butler, Reddy

Off the top of my head, players missing would have been Paul Butler, Rae, Bould, McCann, Ball & Dichio

Claims to know all our players inside out. Full of ****. Apart from the players that he hasn't worked with, what about the way others have developed under Mowbray. Just one example - Does he know Ba inside out? I don't think we do yet. Maybe he has watched a lot of Sunderland games but that's a bold claim. I guess if he does what he did last time he can claim to have been right but if not, Stoke fans will no doubt hold him to account.

Never worked with Jobe, Aouchiche, Ba, Dack, Hemir, Burstow, Rusyn, Mayenda, Ekwah etc

But aye let's make it all about you Alex - you short arsed baldy ****
