Warner and Marsh is an excellent opening pair for ODI cricket. The ole left/ right and tall/ short combo.
We're now at the stage where if/when a wicket finally falls Australia have to promote the likes of Maxwell and Stoinis up the order. Smith and Labuschagne, while excellent batsmen, don't have the brute power of the other two.
That scorecard is incredible, complete collapse after an incredible start. Still in a commanding position though.
I do think it's a gamble going with this XI - we've basically gone from a pre-WC plan of loads of all-rounders, to none of them - but fingers crossed it works. Apparently this isn't a great ground for bowling spin, which maybe explains why we've just gone with Rashid (and Root). Same as SA with just Maharaj (and Markram).
It would be nice if at least one of these two games today was a close game. This WC badly needs one, because everything has been one-sided so far. Pakistan-SL was probably the nearest thing to "close".
