I think that’s what a lot of people are uncomfortable with. What happened those innocent Israeli people is outrageous and can’t be tolerated however, what Israel has done, is doing and is about to do is not justifiable and not legal under international law. By responding as if they are above the law and with no limit as to what’s enough, they lose public support and sympathy
The Rafah crossing remains closed according to ITV. So many conflicting reports about Rafah. Awful scenes coming out of Gaza. Hamas have their wish.
Looks like the opposition parties, led by Donald Tusk, have won the election in Poland, ousting the far right encumbents - despite their having turned TVP, the state broadcaster, into a propaganda mouthpiece for the government. Good news.
OTV also reporting that the water has been turned back on in Gaza and that the ground offensive may be postponed.
American foreign policy falling apart. Biden is quite possibly the most inept president with his overseas dealings, after Afghanistan this is quite unbelievable. Now he thinks appearing in person will fix 75 years of pain suffering death. Shocking. Who advises this man? - "An intense US-led diplomatic effort failed on Monday to ease the plight of 2 million Palestinians trapped under bombardment in Gaza, with supplies of water, food and medicine all running out, raising the prospect of a humanitarian disaster. The US secretary of state, Antony Blinken, arrived back in Israel after a tour of the five Gulf Arab states and Egypt as part of an ongoing but faltering diplomatic mission. US media reported that Joe Biden was considering a trip as an already dire situation drastically deteriorated. Trucks carrying badly needed supplies have waited for days at Egypt’s border crossing with Gaza but repeated Israeli strikes and a diplomatic stalemate with Cairo have meant they have been unable to enter. An Israeli airstrike hit the border crossing again on Monday evening, a BBC journalist in Gaza reported, the fourth time the area has been bombed since the war began."
Can't see it Col, more smoke and mirrors Gaza 'running out of water', says WHO The World Health Organization (WHO) warned Gaza faces an imminent public health crisis as the Palestinian enclace is “running out of water”. The UN agency said the lives of more than 3,500 patients in 35 hospitals in Gaza are at immediate risk, and called for the unobstructed access for humanitarian aid into the enclave. On Sunday, US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Israeli officials had told him that they had turned the water pipe back on in southern Gaza. A Hamas spokesperson denied Israel’s claims, saying that the people in Gaza “drink unhealthy water, posing a serious health crisis threatens the lives of the citizens”. Jason Lee, the Palestine director of Save the Children, told the BBC earlier today that the aid agency had had reports that the water was flowing in parts of southern Gaza again, but that without fuel or electricity to pump it, it would not be available to the general population. The head of the UN’s agency supporting Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) warned late Sunday that Gaza is “being strangled”, adding that “not one drop of water” has been allowed into the Gaza Strip for more than a week. Philippe Lazzarini said:Gaza is being strangled and it seems that the world right now has lost its humanity. If we look at the issue of water – we all know water is life – Gaza is running out of water, and Gaza is running out of life.
Hamas have demanded the release of 6,000 hamas prisoners held by Israel in exchange for the hostages. No way that's enough to placate or atone for the horrific attack last week, plus Israel has now moved to the stated aim of the complete destruction of Hamas
I think what we’re seeing is the US just about managing to hold the Israeli Govt in check. This can’t suit the Israeli’s as every 24hrs they wait they give Hamas further time to prepare and they are losing momentum. The problem is Gaza continues to be pummelled and the humanitarian situation inside is deteriorating badly. Tension is certainly rising.
be a vigil somewhere Brussels shooting: Two Swedes killed and suspect still at large Published 55 minutes ago Share please log in to view this image IMAGE SOURCE,REUTERS By George Wright BBC News Two people have been shot dead in the Belgian capital Brussels on Monday evening, police have said. Belgium's prime minister later confirmed the victims were Swedish. Prosecutors say they are treating the shooting as terrorism. The Belgium-Sweden Euro 2024 qualifier football match being played in the city has been abandoned, Uefa said. The gunman fled the scene and is still at large. Brussels has increased its terror threat to the highest level. A spokesman for the Belgian federal prosecutor said another person had been wounded in the attack. "Go home and stay at home as long as the threat has not been eradicated," Eric van Duyse told Reuters, adding that the attacker claimed to be inspired by Islamic State. A video posted on social media showed an Arabic-speaking man claiming he carried out the attack in the name of God. The man in the clip said he had killed three people. The federal prosecutor's office confirmed it has seen the footage but cannot say whether he is the gunman. The video and others uploaded during the attack is being verified by police, the BBC has been told. Federal prosecutors in Belgium have since said that a terrorism probe has been opened following the shooting on the Boulevard d'Ypres. please log in to view this image IMAGE SOURCE,AFP VIA GETTY IMAGES Image caption, The Belgium-Sweden Euro 2024 qualifier being played in the city has been abandoned A social media video shared by newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws on Monday, but not verified by BBC News, showed a man wearing a fluorescent jacket get off a scooter armed with what appears to be an assault-style rifle before entering a nearby glass-fronted building. He appears to then shoot at least one person. The Swedish players told Uefa that they did not want to play the second half and the Belgium team agreed, according to Swedish broadcaster TV6. Police and emergency services have cordoned off nearby roads following the shooting which happened at around 19:00 local time (17:00 GMT; 18:00 BST). Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo posted on X, formerly Twitter, that he had "offered my sincere condolences to the Swedish PM following tonight's harrowing attack on Swedish citizens in Brussels". "Our thoughts are with the families and friends who lost their loved ones. As close partners the fight against terrorism is a joint one." It is not yet known whether the victims were in Brussels to watch their national team play. French President Emmanuel Macron said that Brussels was again hit by an "Islamist terrorist attack". "Europe has been shaken," he said, speaking in Albania. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said her thoughts were "with the families of the two victims of the despicable attack in Brussels". "I extend my heartfelt support to the Belgian police, so they swiftly apprehend the suspect. Together, we stand united against terror," she posted on X.
It is up to the Palestinian people to rise up against their Hamas oppressors. Once a legitimate and stable government emerges in Gaza, Israel will be more than happy to negotiate a lasting peace. Without Hamas scooping up the aid donated by other countries, there will be money to build infrastructure and make the place better to live in. Contrast the West Bank. They are healthy and happy(ish) with their relationship with Israel. Different government over there.
I think you are swallowing the propaganda whole. https://www.timesofisrael.com/deadly-violence-surges-in-west-bank-as-war-rages-in-gaza-region I’d encourage you to read the whole article, from a pretty impeccably unbiased source.
Couldn't be further from the truth at all. Abbas and the Palestinian Authority are a spent force. The majority of Palestinians are now more committed to Hamas than ever before - Gaza West Bank and the diaspora. By the way, 59 Palestinians killed, 700 arrested and schools raided by the IDF in the West Bank so far this week - no one there is healthy nor happy. Ok the following is from the Guardian but the author I respect and sums up perfectly how we got here - https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...the-world-failed-miserably-in-the-middle-east Read this and realise how so many years of US foreign policy have failed
Yes, this is good news. He's right of centre, but more importantly, any move away from the extremes or right or left is particularly welcome.
If reports that Israel have hit a hospital with catastrophic consequences are true…then shame on you Israel. Doctors, nurses, children, those already injured all dead. Any sympathy that people had for Israel will disappear very very quickly. They simply can’t help themselves.
Initial reports 500+ dead and thousands buried under the rubble How will hezzbollah react given their statement they will repay such acts double fold On the eve of Biden's visit - High stakes for him, he greenlighted this strategy
