A couple of good interviews from LBC, reference Israel and Hamas. Sangita Myska is becoming my favourite interviewer on so many topics.
A small glimmer of light in the darkness. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/oct/15/examples-jewish-arab-solidarity-offer-hope-israel?
It’s a mark of how far we have fallen, that Cameron and May’s governments appear almost statesmanlike in comparison to the ship of fools currently in charge. Never forget Cameron was responsible for austerity though; next time the complete disintegration of public services impacts your life or those of your loved ones, remember his government is to blame.
They’ve stood for profiteering casino capitalism, the interests of hedge fund managers and chancers, and for the systematic eradication of social welfare. Conservatism on steroids, basically.
Not at all. I’m not tarring all immigrants with any brush. I recognise and accept that it’s not the majority, but to ignore the growing number of people in the west that genuinely hate us and want to decimate the Jews is naive in the extreme.
Again, doing what Tom did. Attempting to gaslight and ignore the very real issue just like most liberal lefty’s. just because someone wants the borders controlled correctly doesn’t mean they are racist or bigoted. I don’t think “not wanting to commit genocide / terrorist atrocities” is a particularly high bar for deportation personally
You're certainly not wrong that the huge immigration figures to the UK are worrying. The tories despite their own narrative are letting it slip to completely unsustainable levels. I think they thought leaving the EU it would come down naturally.. There is no way they can claim to be the party of responsibility anymore given how much they have got so wrong. Whereas the left is in a weird bind with it, as optically they want to be seen as pro helping everyone. But that's not possible without acknowledging that bringing people here without the required services and infrastructure does nothing to help, whilst reducing the services available to people here who have been struggling since the 2008 financial crash. Labour have said very little on the matter so hard to see what Starmers position is. Most likely keep quiet and let the Tories **** up like they have done routinely since the last GE. Very difficult situation that needs clear policy decisions to resolve but almost nothing to go on!
All I know for certain is something is DRASTICALLY wrong with our immigration & border policing when you have pro-Hamas supporters carrying knives and threatening to behead Jews on the streets of our capital city. (yes this happened this weekend before people call me crazy or whatever, yawn)
.....and May shamelessly bought DUP votes with our money in her desperate struggle to stay in power. Slimey self-serving charlatans the lot of them.
Very difficult to apply an immigration policy that keeps out people like that. Not many people put raving mad extremist on their paperwork. But putting more money into the processing and monitoring of new immigrants- and helping them integrate- would help reduce this.
Hmm bit sensationalist for my tastes but don't doubt there are many people who are very charged up with the current events, as there usually is!
The slimey self-serving charlatans society are complaining about being compared with low life conservative scum.
Tbh this is probably the most significant case of both sides having major issues. The reality is that Hamas should be condemned and it is understandable that Israel takes operations in Gaza to try and wipe them out. The reality is also that Israel is an apartheid state and they are deliberately targeting Palestinian civilians in response. It is not anti semitic to have deep concerns that they are firstly about to expel Palestinians from Gaza and secondly that they may well move into full scale ethnic cleansing, possibly to genocide. However we have people on the ‘pro-Palestinian’ side who have celebrated Hamas attacks from last weekend or who have responded to genuine grief with responses suggesting it may be what they deserve, with lots of whataboutery swimming around (a real problem on the left, Starmer’s attitude towards booting out Corbyn has been fully vindicated over the last week, as that wing of the party is utterly toxic over this). On the other hand we have the government and the right wing media condoning Israel’s reaction and historic treatment of Palestinians, which frankly is indefensible. Any politician on the global stage willing to back Israel’s actions could well go down as a genocide facilitator, should Israel launch a full scale invasion of Gaza. We will see how it pans out, but it doesn’t feel very hopeful. The ball is in Israel’s court.
Yes indeed feelings are running high. I would have thought knife brandishing pro Hamas protestors in London would have been widely reported across all media channels.
Can I take a moment to recommend reading "Jews Don't Count" by David Baddiel. It's an excellent, eye opening and thought provoking book, all written with the light touch of a comedian. It's really very good.
Thanks I'll get a copy and I saw that a film was shown on C4 in 2022 https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-...view-a-doc-so-shocking-it-sounds-like-a-siren https://www.imdb.com/title/tt24949902/ I'll give it a look.
Your exact words on the OP were that we are letting in "hundreds of thousands" that hate Jews, Christians and the West. That would clearly mean the majority and that is what people were taking issue with, nothing to do with being a Woke Lefty, I wouldn't describe Tom as one of those!.

Not sure I agree with all that is said, but some bits in there, if verified, I wasn’t aware of. It made me wonder the part on what Palestine are, in terms of settlement etc. I must admit not being too aware of the make up of both Israel and Palestine. Not posted to offend anyone either, just thought some may want to hear some views
