I'd hazard a guess that those responsible for the negative replies are either lying, making a feeble attempt at humour, or already had a mental health problem. The only good thing about them is that, having blocked them, their nonsense no longer pollutes my timeline - a bit like that of Uncle Ron and his acolytes.
I haven't knowingly seen you on twitter, mind you I spend most of my time on there irritating young earth creationists, trumptards, and tories. Very few football posts, can't be doing with "uncle ron" neither!
Tories goes without saying, but I tend to irritate Labourites and Brexiteers too - as well as anyone who makes idiotic comments on a range of topics. Sadly, sometimes I can spend a whole day doing that last one...
Does this guy speak for fans I wonder ? Will people agree on what is the real Watford ? I find most hate the current situation as we were once in the Premier league with a good team and now we are some way from that obviously.
Yeah, there's plenty to choose from... Yes, brexiteers, though I tend to ignore them these days. hs2 apologists as well.
He definitely had the ability to do that but wasn’t able to so often as as liked either due to his own lack of form or others around him .
Don't know what others think of this - VI being instrumental in Manga's Army being removed - but I find it a very positive article. it does seem to suggest that Gino is taking on board criticism and is moving to change things rather drastically. The Pozzo/Ismael haters on Twitter may be a bit nonplussed after reading this. https://archive.ph/E56HF
Tbh apart from announcing they were selling the club not sure anything would placate fans. And even then would very much depend on who those owners are and no it wouldn’t be Elton John ! I mean did people want them to sack Ismael and keep Manga ? Trouble is the chap came with a big reputation and people were hoping he would get a few gems and suddenly turn the squad into a winning machine . Which obviously hasn’t happened - quite the opposite!
Ryan Porteous not having a great time of things . Scored an OG tonight although sounds like another defender was to blame - sounds familiar! From BBC: “Calamity. Aaron Hickey, Scotland's standout performer, slips under no pressure at all and the visitors are caught short from the the resulting cross. Ryan Porteous slides in to try and intervene but can only bundle the ball into his own net from close in”
I suspect that there are some who want the "real" Watford back, really would like to see another GT. He had a knowledge of just about everything that was happening in the club, and did not rely on the word of anyone. A player that had been suggested by a scout would be seen playing for his current team by GT himself, even if it meant a long midweek trip. I have asked here about just what role some people have in the club, as I certainly didn't know. The fabled Pozzo scouting system seems to be struggling a bit currently, with Udinese eight games into their season, and yet to win a game. Maybe Gino has seen that there have been too many empire building within the club, and it needs a single person to take control. Of course, it will save him money, which has to be a consideration too.
All getting a bit silly and sad now. Got people saying Ismael should have gone - no doubt the same ones complaining that the club sack mangers too soon! And actually quite rude stuff about the Pozzos and Ismael saying they are up each others.....and the likes. I'd almost it funny in a weird sort of way if they sold up and the new owner turned out to be even worse which has happened at clubs like ours before. Yes of course criticisms is warranted obviously but if people want to protest they need to be organised and constructive. Not just say "I am off to support someone else" or attack other fans who maybe aren't as vocal in their anger. My Mum and Dad certainly aren't happy we are struggling and have doubts over the Pozzos etc but aren't on Twitter and like demanding their removal for example. And it's probably the same for most fans - just we never have been a vocally out spoken set of supporters.
I suppose the sad thing is if we had someone like GT or a scouting set and even players now as we once had they'd all soon be poached by bigger teams. Obviously GT was great and there were so many wonderful moments but I think even would get rough treatment now from some as it's much easier to make a snap judgement every day almost. They'd probably complain we came 2nd one year and did worse the next for example. Selling Luther would have been seen as lacking ambition etc. We need stability and not endless stories of people coming and going though. Unfortunately the signings in recent years haven't worked out - maybe we and the Pozzos just got lucky in the past that we had some very good ones in with a lot of rubbish even back in the early Pozzos era. No Vydra, Abdi, Ighalo etc or a big strong leader in prime form like Deeney was but lets not kid ourselves there was some dross too but no one cared then when we were in the Premier league.
Certainly times have changed from the GT era, when one had to wait until the WO came out on a Friday with the Watford news. Much of social media now doesn't even require some people to make a "judgement", just say the first thing that comes into their head. Three word slogans are the most that some can cope with, so to expect a reasoned debate with them is pie in the sky.
Not strictly true. I can't remember the exact date - or even full details - but back in the 70s in Queensland I was having lunch at work one day when a colleague handed me a copy of the Sydney Morning Herald, saying "Have a read of this." The paper had a large article about Watford fans and their 'Bonser out' protests - including, to my amazement, a bit about a friend of mine being ejected at Griffin Park during one protest. It was a few years before I caught up with him again - during our 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Upton Park - and he was quite proud of his part in getting Bonsor out. A long time ago now I suppose - maybe our fan base has quietened down a tad since then.
Not sure where to post this, but this seems the most appropriate: Does anyone know if you can get to the SEJ from the Vicarage Rd (family) stand...I have an old friend who will be sitting in the SEJ for the millwall game. I wanted to go and catch up and have a beer at the stadium, but I don't think there is a way for me to get over to see him and then get back any ideas/thoughts/advice would be appreciated Ta
If you can, you'll have to walk through the UGT concourse and through the Rookery: I know of Rookeryites drinking at the UGT real ale bar, so it's possible I'm sure. Beware the jobsworth officious steward, mind...
