Bentancur was playing Ange ball with Conte and we didn't know it ,his injury signaled our serious decline last season
Sarr's been great, saying Bentancur is better at the moment is by no means meant to be derogatory towards Sarr. There's a five year age gap between them and we signed Bentancur at 24 iirc, by the time Sarr turns 24 there's every possibility he'll be as good, if not better than at least one of Bentancur, Bissouma or Maddison. But if we've got every player fully fit and ready to play right now, I'd be surprised if people genuinely stuck Bentancur on the bench.
I've said the same, season went to **** when he got injured and he would've almost certainly pushed Kane all the way for our POTY, arguably beating him. Assuming he returns the same player, he's one of the top three players at the club and once he's fit to actually start he should be straight into the XI in my opinion.
I just wondered if they would get in each others way. The two of them with Maddison in front would make our midfield very strong.
I see it as Bentancur doing what Sarr does but to a higher level. Sarr’s been really good though, it’s just that Bentancur is considerably better at the moment, assuming he returns to pre-injury levels. I think it has the potential to be one of the top midfields around. All three players more or less fall under the category that’s just beneath world class in my opinion and realistically that’s the sort of calibre Spurs should be aiming to get, with the hope of nabbing or producing a world class one every now and then.
That was kind of the point I was making a couple of days ago. Betancur is (hopefully) currently a superior footballer to Sarr, but I see him more in the Bissouma role rather than Sarr. I'm a big fan of all three and we are blessed to have that talent, but until all three are fit and available I don't think the issue should be on the table.
I think imagining two different cases would take both your point and mine into account. If Spurs keep getting 2 1/2 points a game, with no truly disappointing results, I think it's wrong to drop anyone from the starting lineup, however good your replacement is (and even if his name is Harry Kane). But when (not if, realistically) Spurs have a disappointing result or three, and there's a player of Bentancur's quality available, then you figure out how to add him to the lineup.
Or you wait for a first team player to stupidly dive and get sent off, then the replacement would be in possession.
Your claim will die a death come december. Starting XI rotation is imperative, or you tempt the god of injury < standard > . I contend that home games are better to attempt that, as the crowd in theory should get behind the non-regulars to lift them to good performances.
