One thing I really did like yesterday was how, with 20 seconds remaining and we get the ball to Philogene on the edge of their box, instead of running into the corner, he passed it back to the midfield and defence who calmly played a few balls between each other before going back to the keeper. A much better strategy to run the clock down than running it into the corner, which usually only kills the time taken to actually reach the corner. Officials always give the throw/goal kick to the defending team by default and often they get one last chance to attack from it.
'We did not ever look like scoring attempting to play it out from the back.' You can see it, a lot of the fans can see it, but the manager who knows all there is to know about football can't. The problem is the hierarchy are forever telling him what a great job he is doing instead of questioning his judgement. He's the best manager in the league and players can't wait to join the club because they agree with his style of play. Give me a beak - money talks! His style of play is easily sussed out by the opposition and when they change their system during a game he's unable to respond in a positive way. It happened again yesterday when they looked good during the first half and should have scored more goals while they dominated play but his inexperience in the second half cost the team another two points.Still plenty to play for but stubbornness is making life unnecessarily difficult. Acun needs to wake up and smell the coffee to get this sorted. If he does this team has a good chance of a top six spot.
Agree with most of what you say but doesn't this approach invite teams up the pitch to create the space behind? So then mixing up long with short makes it difficult for the opposition to set up against. Accepted though that we don't do that enough. Philogene in particular, in first half was getting frustrated with his runs not being picked up. That said, I know sod all about tactics!
Both goals were scored because we were able to capitalise on their high press due to our passing it out from the back.
The amount of draws concern me. But we look a much more in control team in most games than we ever have probably post-Bruce promotion season.
This is crucial to me. This is the most enjoyable era watching City since that second Bruce promotion season. At the end of the day the PL is a bloated mess and even if we get there I don't think the actual experience will be as enjoyable as the rush of achieving promotion. Playing good football week in week out in the Championship is actually quite a reward in itself. So people wanting the manager who is achieving that for us gone just perplexes me.
If you have to ask Ric then they simply don’t want you to know. They’re forces above and beyond, best not to know. I’ve said too much. DYOR.
Someone posted in here saying that Rosenior should do one, I'm not digging the post out as I don't want to spark a back and forth with the poster in question. Then there's of course the screenshot that's been shared in here a few times of someone wanting Rosenior stabbed because he wants him out of the club. I'm sure there's a few others who'd be happy to see him depart too but that would be guessing. So going off just what I've seen, two people is 'people' I believe?
He's the only individual who has posted that opinion on here.I don't agree with him in essence but as a paying spectator he's entitled to his own personal comments. The comment you've subsequently edited into your post was widely condemned on here Yesterday,as it should be but it has no bearing or relevance on 'our' forums as it wasn't posted on here. If it had've been, our moderators would have swiftly dealt with it...
I don't believe in my original post I said "people on here", I said people. But we can play the pedantry game if you want. It's why I edited my post as I'm sure you would have countered by saying that one person isn't people and it would have gone on and on and on... I can't imagine why anyone would want Rosenior gone when we're playing as well as we have in the past 7-8 years. I'm enjoying the ride and while there will be elements that are disappointing - as there always is in football - on the whole I'm enjoying this season as much as any in that 7-8 year period. Is that better? I actually meant my post to be quite a positive one in agreement with Cortez, so it's disappointing that element of it has been fixated on.
On that note,I'll bid you farewell for the day,I have a local hostelry to visit and I'm not inclined to waste valuable drinking time engaging in argument...G'Day.
Here it is .... "Good in first half. Utter ****e second half. Against a bang average side. Another 2 points thrown away. Rosenior can do one for me. Vastly overrated, just because he's articulate. A decent experienced manager would be getting far more from our squad". Maybe semantics, but not saying he 'should do one'. Just that for me he can go. I'd love him to succeed, I really would. I'm just not seeing it though. And I'm not seeing this 'good enjoyable football' that we are supposedly playing. I wouldn't go as far as the other poster earlier saying he's bored, but I'm as frustrated as hell watching us. Cortez says we "look a much more in control team", which is partially true, but what's the point, and where's the enjoyment as well, if that's largely as a result of passing sideways and back, recycling, playing safe, keeping possession for the sake of it, etc. Rosenior says, again, that they need to work on attacking play (no ****); well ffs let's see it. If it improves then great, happy days, but as I keep saying I just don't see any evidence of it from him. I might be wrong, but I wouldn't be suprised in the slightest if Acun & Tan are starting to get restless with seeds of doubt sprouting in their minds; what we are seeing is not what they want I'm sure.
