I guess after our first half, it was a disappointing result, though it was pretty obvious Millwall were not going to give Philo the same freedom in the second half. Millwall is a tough place to go, so would have been happy with a draw before the game.
It’s that level of performance in the first half that makes me believe we are going in the right direction. Also, when we were under the cosh in the second half, I suspect with about fifteen to go we must have put over 30 passes together. It totally took the steam out of their play after which it then allowed us to get back into the game. It was slow and some fannying around at the back and going backwards, so can see some not liking it but absolutely what was needed at the time, and had the desired effect.

It is still work in progress, but I am more than happy with how things are evolving. My expectation was top ten, then hoped for top six with the successful transfer window. I look at the fixtures in the first quarter of the season and they are more difficult than average. Apart from Sheffield Wednesday, every team has been top few/expected to be up there/around play offs last season or in a good run of form. So I expect us to gradually improve upto xmas, and still be in touch with play offs. Which would then make it another interesting transfer window.

    Club Statement

Hull City are appalled to learn of an incident of alleged discriminatory abuse towards one of our players during Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship fixture against Millwall.

A home supporter has been identified and arrested and we would like to thank Millwall for their swift actions.

The welfare of our players and staff is of the upmost importance and we will work with the EFL, Millwall and the Metropolitan Police to investigate the matter further.

We have a zero-tolerance position on discrimination and will continue to support those tackling abuse in all forms.

Saw most of the second half today, just after they scored. The things I noticed & was frustrated by.
    1. The goal kicks, 3 players on the edge of the 6 yard box, passing, very neatly, but dangerously, with fine margins of success, it’s not going to take much for teams to nick the ball if we continue this suicidal passing game.
    2. Seri, undoubtedly, he’s great on the ball, his passes are pretty accurate, but he’s setting up other players to fail, his passes might be to the player, but that player then has nowhere to turn except back to the keeper, for the millionth time, who then launches it forward.
    3. Players with space to run into, when the ball does land to a player in a bit of space, they don’t seem to see the next player further forward in a bit of space, or decide to try & run at the opposition. Instead it’s get it to Seri or the keeper.
    4. Edge of the box, no threat, it really reminds me of the Arsenal game that we won 2-1, that game was brilliant because of the result & the way we played, proper battling performance, but realistically, if Arsenal hadn’t tried walking it into the goal, we’d have lost. That’s how we look right now.
    5. Too many tight passes, today, a lot worked, it looked really good when we weren’t on the edge of our own box, but it just seemed as though we were practicing the passing & having no intention of getting a shot off or creating a chance or even getting to the byline.
    6. Pressure on the opposition, non existent in their half & we’re swarmed in our half, I know we’re drawing them in & away from home, but we still need to defend further out & not let them get so close.
Frustrating stuff to watch, if we can get it all together soon, we’ll be the best team in this division, if we can’t, then it’s going to be mid table to bottom half.
I think Rosie will get it eventually, hopefully sooner rather than later, but our team likes taking too many chances & it’s going to cost us at some point if we don’t start moving forward faster.

He lives a couple of doors away from me. His wife is heavily pregnant, just wondered when I saw he wasn't on the bench if she had given birth.

He accused Rosie of time-wasting, when he was actually telling the players to get the ball into their area.

Tough watch today minus 20 mins at the end of the first half. Finding it really hard not to be bored by this style! Can’t imagine Acun is particularly entertained either

Remember when Brownie took us up. We lost a midweek game against Pardew's Charlton in Oct/Nov that left us in 15th. We could have more points by now - we could have less, but there are loads of games left and two wins shoots you up the table.

    was at the game today
    1) passing around/dicking around at the back & playing it out from the back are not the same thing!! I lost count of how many times the ball went sideways between the defenders & then back to the keeper .We are not Man City & do not have the players to play this way. All it does is put the defenders & keeper under unecessary pressure & invite the opposition to nick the ball & score. It concerns me Rosenior can’t /won’t see this

    2) both goals today were from long balls from the back into the final 3rd. First was a long ball from McCoughlin & the second was a long ball from Allsop. We did not ever look like scoring attempting to play it out from the back.

    3) Now Oscar has gone do we have a striker at the club that can head a ball ?
I did not see 1 cross into the box from either wing for the strikers to head in 90 minutes . Have City scored direct from a corner or free kick with a header this season?

    4) second half was just shocking. Sat back & invited Millwall to equalise. At no point did City look capable of scoring a goal. How many times did our play break down in the final 3rd as there was no attacking option? At one point we were on the attack in their 18 yard box & a few seconds later the ball was back with Allsop!!

    Definitely 2 points dropped today
