It really is a huge turn off. Every campaign England play a bunch of no hopers in qualifying. (this time round we had italy but they were awful) then the media insist everyone puts bunting out cos "its coming home" and they make it like a massive expectation Its knowing the absolute inevitable thats coming (even if groups are easy) that is a complete turn off. Every time a southgate england side meet an actual decent side then that is it. I think the last times i'd have been bothered was 2006? since the the teams have been managed badly with over hyped players. I have to say that morocco, spain and portugal is a nice cluster and I've no issue at all with that. I'm hugely supportive of a football mad nation like morocco getting a chance. The groups being spread across 3 south american counties is nuts yes, if they can host that many games initially then why on earth could they not do the last 16 onwards! If england ever have a decent manager (last one was capello imo) and a decent squad (this one has gone over the top and needs refresh badly) then they will have a chance. As we speak in euro terms England ought to be in a final with spain. Italy are woeful and out nearly and germany are too. That then leaves the Dutch who are not good and france. Everyone else is playing for QF. In world cup terms there smore side sthat come into it that threaten england but again france and spain will be there.
it looks like Brighton have had a rude awakening from dreamland after their midfield cheap buys have not delivered the same existing high energy game they had before being attacked by the big boys and bought clean
Got couple injuries. Estupinian being out for month is big blow as well. Their midfield is a massive drop in quality from last couple years though and losing nearly 200m in quality in space of 24 months is hard to replace for any team Think they’ll have to go buy 2 more in January although yet to see the new kid they got who might do well
️ Miroslav Klose: "I said stop playing football because I no longer recognised it. Today, young players think about other things. As a child, I only thought about training and becoming someone in this sport that I always loved. At Lazio and in the national team, after each training session, I put myself in a bathtub full of ice to avoid injuries. But the young players on the team systematically refused. When they saw me picking up the bags of balls to put them away at the end of training, they said to me 'But who tells you to do that?'. At that moment, I said to myself: 'You're 20 years old and you can't help a 60-year-old worker?' They care more about whether their boots go with their socks. That's why I said stop. The football I knew no longer exists. Today's young players think first of cars, contracts with their sponsors, and their new boots. It is only after all these things that football comes. For them, their image is the most important thing. Whereas for me, all that mattered was football in its purest form.”
He forgot the hairdos. Tbf, I think there are still plenty of footballers dedicated to the game, but it is hard to stop young men, barely more than kids, from being image-conscious.
did he not recognise a poor club culture.individually and did he not look to see if all clubs were similar?
I totally get this. Obviously very different levels but I saw this change myself in Sunday football. Only difference being, I was "allowed" to kick the little bellends in the air
Can't say I'm impressed all that much by the new shiny Spurs. They've been lucky several times already this season, and they've coughed up so many chances against a mediocre Luton side. Any half-decent team would have left them for dead by now.
Officials have gained them 5pts in the last two games (Luton never looked like scoring despite the chances they created)
