Alcaraz has signed a contract extension. Didn't see that coming. Fantastic news. Suggests a happy team / squad to me.
Match day. Will it be a day of humiliation or joy? ****ed if I know. In this league with this manager and our players you just know that we are as likely score a hat full of goals as to concede them. All I ask is that I am not bored to death.
on. FB. Saints fans are saying it’s only to raise his value for the January transfer market . Funny how two different groups think differently .
Sorry to be doom and gloom but my only conclusion is that it’s a transfer valuation raise. At least Brentford are interested and Charly wants to be in prem and to play for Argentina. He’s just got in the Argie squad and playing in the prem will give him a much better chance of staying in it.
Why would it make a difference if his contract runs out in 2028 or 2027? That's 4 or 5 years away. His price won't go up one bit. Also, why would the club make such a song and dance about him signing a new contract, if they were planning to cash in a couple of months from now? You really think they aim to antagonise the fan base like that? Come off it.
Really looking forward to this one. We may need to be patient but I'm hopeful we might have our first truly comfortable win of the season. An early goal would be lovely. Looks like going to be a beautiful day for it too. UTFS
Yes it is a weird one all round and has flummoxed me a bit and I guess we’ll see what happens. Do you really think if we don’t get promoted this year that Charly would stay another season in the championship? I just can’t see that.
Rotherham. Lol. Everything I dreamed of from a football league return. Genuinely. Give me Rotherham over Liverpool any.
I have tosay that I am very confidnt about this match. It was the game that I had envisaged Saints' fortines starting to turn around but the results against Stoke and Leeds had surprised me. I am going to stick my neck out on this one and say that the team will click this afternoon with Rotherham being brushed aside. I would not be at all surprised if we came home from the match with Saints winning something like 5-0. It has been ages since were really tonked an opponent and I this could be the day.
We need to be on it from the KO, any sign of be being lazy and over confident and this could quite easily be a banana skin fixture.
Richie I have to say that I cannot see this match being a banana skin whatsoever. If Saints stick to the job in hand, this is three points in the bag and a hatfull of goals. I am really confident abut this one.
Ah, you're changing the discussion slightly there. Sure, by the end of the season, so many things could happen. Even if we get promoted Charly might decide to leave. If we don't get promoted, the chances of him going are certainly high. He might yet have a below-par season, and put off his current suitors. But, you were implying that he would be off in January. I just can't see that myself. It makes no sense. Why give him a pay rise, if we have no intention of keeping him? Also, there was, and still is, no release clause. It's an absolute PR disaster if the club make a big deal out of this, only to sell him in January.
The last couple of matches have been calming, another goal or two against Stoke would have eased the last 15 minute nerves. Let's cruise to a comfortable half time lead, bring some younguns early enough to impress. Please.
I’d like to see us keep stability here please Martin. No tinkering, SAA to get a good 30 minutes provided we’re safe.
