Had a go at the placepot at Haydock: 12.15 Grandouet / Marsh Warbler 12.50 Any Given Day / Westlin' Winds 1.20 Diocles 1.55 You Know Yourself / Jaunty Journey 2.30 Robinson Collonges / Rival D'Estruval 3.05 Wierd Al Dan looking forward to hearing from Willie RV - racing today is "rape"
Morning gents... Like you all im hoping for some great races today regardless of who wins... Obviously anything that i have put my money on coming in 1st would be good, but we have some cracking contests to watch so lets enjoy them...!!! Just a few that im going with... Haydock... 12.50 - Wyse Hill Teabags, 13/2 - NAP Ive forgot who sang the praises of this horse last year, think it was Stick, but ive followed him since and done very well off him. Seasonal reappearance but everything looks good on his return. Trip and going is to his liking, he has been placed in all 5 of his jumps races with 2 wins from them 5. All his runs have been from 2m up to 2m4f with his last run coming at Aintree finishing 3rd just over a length behind Russian War at this 2m4f... 2.30 - Kayf Aramis, 28/1 e/w Im also in agreement with Toppy that the Twisters will have had one eye on this and maybe the last run was a blow the cobwebs away sort of day... 3.05 - Long Run, 6/5 Just because i cant see him losing... Ascot... 12.25 - Bowntobebad, 9/2 Liked the look of him on his last run at Huntingdon and im giving him a go here against Mush Mir... 1.30 - Overyou, 7/1 Any improvement on her last run and i can see Overyou getting up to at least place... 2.10 - Master Minded, 13/8 3 from 3 at Ascot and jumps as good as you would want. Kalahari King would be the one i fear though most though... 2.45 - Oscar Whiskey, 11/10 Henderson has had a stranglehold on this race for the past three years winning it twice and i can see him taking it again with Oscar Whiskey here. Its going to be a tough race as he concedes weight all round, but ive stuck my neck out and gone for him to win... A few combos of doubles and singles... Have a great weekend of sport and good luck to all who indeed play on this marvelous day...
Odddy please don't use that word BORING BORING KINGSLEY 12.15 Haydock - GRANDOUET 5/6 (BOG) I have Grandouet down as a steal at 5/6, I feel he is a 1-2 shot today through a form line with Celestial Halo who I believe he had beat before crashing out at Wincanton last time out. He was priced up at 8/13 that day and I doubt any of his rivals today are better than that horse. He has to concede weight today but I see this as a 1 horse race and I am confident enough to place a decent sized bet on him here. Obviously there is always a chance of a repeat fall but he is actually a very good jumper and his enthusiasm was what caused him to fall last time out taking off way early of the hurdle. 12.50 Haydock - GETMEOUTOFHERE 10/1 E.W (BOG) A risky selection but if putting it all in Getmeoutofhere would run a massive race here and may well be a bit overpriced at around the 10/1 mark considering how much talent he has. I wouldn't think a mark of 151 is beyond him if we go by his County Hurdle 2nd off 148. Although he hasn't achieved what was expected after his excellent 2nd in the Supreme Novices hurdle at the Cheltenham festival back in 2010 but he has shown enough in some starts to suggest he has retained plenty of ability and is worth an E.W bet today in my opinion. 2.30 Haydock - SENTRY DUTY 25/1 E.W (BOG) & SUNNYHILLBOY 16/1 E.W (BOG) A really competitive renewal of the Fixed Brush Handicap Hurdle today and this means there is plenty of value knocking around. I like the look of Sentry Duty at big prices this afternoon, he is currently priced up at around the 25-1 mark and in my opinion this is excellent value. He comes in to the race in good form havin finished a respectable 6th in the Cesarewitch on the flat last time out. This horse can look brilliant when at his best and I don't think a mark of 149 is beyond him at all. Jeremiah McGrath takes off a very handy 5lbs and I am hoping for a big run. My other selection Sunnyhillboy doesn't look thrown in off a mark of 142 but is a consistent sort and although this is likely to get him spot on to go back over fences I am hoping for a good run, Maurice Linehan takes off 10lbs and from what I have seen of him he looks a very decent rider and well worth the 10lb allowance. 3.05 Haydock - KAUTO STAR 7-1 (BOG) Call me mad but I honestly believe Kauto Star is overpriced at 7/1 today. He goes well fresh and is sure to be fit enough to do himself justice this afternoon. He has an incredible record at Haydock with 3 wins from 4 starts (may well have been 4/4 but for unseating Sam Thomas at the last in 2008). He ran a great race in the Gold Cup when 3rd to Long Run and I am willing to forgive his run in Ireland as he may well have been over the top for the season after that hard race at Cheltenham. Long Run is the one to beat today for sure , however he has other big race targets and whilst he will be fit I expect him to be a better horse come King George/Gold Cup/ 2.10 Ascot - MASTER MINDED 2/1 (BOG) I expect we will see a different Master Minded today to the one we seen at Aintree last time out. He goes well at Ascot and there is no point going on about his form as we all know what he is capable of on his day. I think he wins this easy and 2/1 seems a fair price in my opinion. 2.45 Ascot - KATCHIT 33/1 E.W (BOG) Everyone get calling me mental again lol. I am taking a chance on Katchit this afternoon, not just because he is one of my fav horses in training but I do honestly believe he could run in to 2nd place here. I am disappointed there are only 7 runners but will still do E.W. He returns from a long absence and I do think if Alan King thought he didn't retain any of his ability he would have just retired him as the horse has been great for the yard winning A Triumph and Champion Hurdle. It was only three starts ago he finished 3rd in the Cleeve Hurdle behind Tidal Bay and Time For Rupert and although people say he needs the 3m these days, I still think he has enough speed for this 2m3f trip. I would love too see him run a big race here. 3.55 Ascot - POPULATION 5/2 (BOG) A cracking bumper this and I am looking forward to seeing Turn Over Sivola on his racecourse debut for Alan King. In his stable tour on ATR the trainer points out he thought this one was as good as Montbazon last season before picking up a slight setback he still does think he is as good so it will be interesting to see how he gets on today. However I would expect him to come on for the run and I thought Population looked a bit special on debut for John Ferguson. Unraced on the flat with Andre Fabre/Godolphin operation he clearly has ability and showed a very smart turn of foot when winning over course and distance last month. I expect him to win this under the penalty.
"Dano Listen,Scotsirish runs in the 3 mile chase over the banks course. Ideally he would prefer better ground but he jumps these obstacles well and, with a clear round, this looks like a great opportunity for him to resume winning ways plus will show Ruby Pat can fills his boots whilst he is over there We have two runners in the 2m 4f beginners chase. Raptor should have improved from his first outing over fences at Wexford and he is a course and distance winner here over hurdles. He is a very good jumper and will act on the ground. We have always thought that chasing will be Skorcher’s game. He will like the ground here but could find this trip on the short side, so give that a watch Midnight Game has his first run for us in the 2m 4f maiden hurdle. He is a very nice type and has been showing us plenty at home. Hopefully, this trip and the very soft ground won’t be stretching him too much also Pat gets the leg up for Hanlon in the Bumper and wins Dano wins well, we uasing this as a spying ride, know what i mean big fella, stay frosty""
morning folks. fabulous racing. jumps races are just so much more interesting to me than flat. even those ridiculous novice chases yesterday I found interestingon my lunchbreak. mind you when you work for the council having a **** is interesting. today I like wyse hill teabags as well so bad luck there, also like benny be good and Sa suffit for the fixed brush, and grandouet, oscar, and long run treble. I also keep looking at stagecoach pearl for the 2 miler as sue smith is in such form.....unlikely, but it won't stop me throwing my money away.
Morning All Don't normally play the place markets but I've had to have some Kalahari King 3.4 and Time For Rupert 3.3 to finish top 2 in their races. Also had a lumpy double Grandouet and Oscar Whisky. Cape Tribulation each way at 25s in the big hurdle race Good luck
2.30 Haydock . Rival D’Estruval (Nap) Highland Valley, Dynaste, and Robinson Collonges will all be backed, but none of them has won over this trip over hurdles. The first named made the best try when beaten 10 lengths by Mossley. Top weight Knockara Beau has a great chance if he puts his best foot forward. He is 17 lbs better off with Buena Vista- having finished 4th to him in the Pertemps Final at the Festival. His second to Grands Crus- splitting him and Restless Harry also reads well. However, the selection has to be lightly weighted Rival D’Estruval. This lightly raced 6 year old seems to be going from strength to strength, and stayed on really well when winning over an extended three miles at Aintree recently. Timmy Murphy takes the ride. Best Price 9/1 Various.
Graduoet is pretty much a banker. Across The Bay can run well at decent odds if coming on for a decent reappearance in the 2:30 H. Some of my all time favourites out today Love Katchit & Kauto Star and the fact that the latter has been trending this morning, but with Long Run just 6yrs old he may well have alot more to give this year will he be fully tuned up for the Betfair Chase probably not does he need to be? probably not but Diamond Harry wins when fresh 2/2 at the course prefer his odds. Over at Ascot Population showed a fantastic turn of foot over C&D last month and he can use this tool to good effect today to notch up another win.
Right SP Radio on Not 606 page open Scanner Running Lives being saved Let the racing commence Paddy Brennan in the 1st at Hunts
The 2.30 Fixed Brush Hurdle looks a very decent race and Ladbrokes are offering double SP when betting through their mobile app. That meant I just had to have a look. There are a fair few with squeaks but I'm happy to cross of the favourite Robinson Collonges as I'm not convinced he wants 3m. Dynaste is clearly dangerous but with Pricewise tipping him up it looks as if the value has gone. Highland Valley is clearly well regarded and he is another with a chance. Global Power made a pleasing reappearance when 2nd at Chepstow. Sa Suffit is another who ran well first time up and revert to hurdles to take advantage of a 14lb lower mark. I have it between the last three mentioned. They are hardly original choices but think they are the three open to the most progression. Perhaps the pick of the trio is Highland Valley at 10/1. He is highly regarded and this has been his target for some time.
That's the ticket Dan. Little dabble on Thegondolier in the opener at Punchestown - already won over hurdles and now in the hands of the legend that is Shark Hanlon
Probably Cyc but he did make a shocking blunder last time. Too risky for me mate at that price, although he will most likely win hard-held. Thegondolier second jockey was far too negative at the last hurdle - tried to pop in a short one whilst the other lad took it at full flight and was gone.
I am on at 5/6 big time so needs to win . Odddy I don't think it was such a bad mistake mate just took off way early jumps well usually
Chucked a couple of quid at Marsh Warbler - I think he didn't like the big field in the Supreme Novices. Just in case Grandouet doesn't act
