Trying to get booked on a tour while the kids are off school is virtually impossible with another half term coming up in October it gives the club a great opportunity to get fans to have a great behind the scenes view of the SOL . I think we have a lot of junior season ticket holders in any case who would love the opportunity to go on one of the tours and perhaps take a friend , realise the tours will not be a money spinner but longer term the goodwill and experience for young and old enhances the commitment to the club .
Amazed he is still there, and having the gall to charge for a talk in with him and Speakman (Speakman has done well) I hope someone asks Davison about what he has achieved for his £100k plus salary
I went on one the other week and it was bloody awful. The guide was asking us if we had signed Bellingham on loan lol he also said Ekwah had a poor first 6 months because of his sending off!!! They couldn't get the lights turned on in any of the function rooms + we had to look through the tinted glass to see the boardroom. The kids enjoyed it though.
Completely agree about the tours and the need to attract children while they are young. It doesn't matter that the tours are not as financially beneficial as concerts etc. what should be important is securing our fanbase for the future. It does seem odd that the club are currently failing in the areas that make attending the SOL a family event and encouraging support from children. It isn't too long ago that we had merchandise outlets, stadium tours and a decent fanzone, that were the envy of visiting fans and an attraction for families with children to spend time and be entertained pre match.
That's awful for you and the children, I've done a couple of tours and they were excellent, it was years ago when my son was much younger, we even did one for his birthday and took half a dozen of his mates. It must have changed quite a bit since then. I had no complaints and was fascinated by the knowledge of the tour guide.
Perhaps they need to recruit people who are willing to learn something of a walkthrough script - not wooden ! Maybe retired / semi retired who have some time on their hands to make a bit of pocket money . Ideal candidates would be SAFC fans who would relish telling tales of old in the same way as we do on the forum whilst keeping closely/loosely to the advised script . Personally I would love to do something like this but unfortunately am a little on the older side to contemplate taking up the role .
