Ballard making his debut for Reading today. Coincidentally playing alongside the brother of the lad who he has been partnering up-front for our B-team.
1-0 down, Ballard subbed off, then they go 2-1 up. Lol. Anything to do with Saints is cursed these days. Great result for Selles.
Here's one for the posters of a certain vintage on here, it's a facinating documentary of Mick Channon at the peak of his career and the running theme is whether he will move to a top division side after Saints failed to gain promotion that season. His conclusion at the end of the video is suprising and he would've missed out on a FA Cup winner's medal if he had acted on that decision...
Half of that looks almost exactly like a Harry Enfield sketch now. The little warm up section in the dressing room was hilarious! Channon was a fan first. You don’t get that now. It was quite amusing hearing them arguing at half time in the United game. Will we ever hear that many ‘Ampshire and Wiltshire accents ever again?
Here's some more statistics that although not as interesting as those supplied by Chilco above, tells us what's what in the Championship previously and how we might be around here for a little longer. In the last 10 seasons, only 10 teams that had been relegated from the PL the year before got back the following season (so that's 10 out of 30 available promotion places, 6 autos and 4 through the play-offs). The (optimistic) feeling that the relegated teams are favourites for an immediate return is not necessarily borne out, although admittedly some have achieved promotion soon after. There have been only 2 seasons when none of the previous season's PL failures got at least one promotion place, so Leeds or Leicester should be feeling pretty hopeful (but not both). 2 relegated teams returning the next season has only happened twice and never all 3 (in the last ten seasons). There are 16 teams relegated in that period who are, at this moment, still outside the PL although some have returned and been relegated again. One team (Sunderland) followed relegation from the PL with relegation from the Championship. So even that route has been covered before.
Where for art thou Romeu ? This is the only stadium I`ve ever seen that seems to be built from scaffolding.
Madness 1. We never gave him an opportunity 2. A potential big loss in transfer fee 3. Someone on here came up with the great name totem paul that we can no longer use
What a quality video(not the video quality though, that was ****ing awful!), not seen that before, really interesting. Thanks for posting. Does anyone know if it went out on TV?
Probably down to some out of the box thinking, like playing to his strengths. Cant be having that at Saints.
