Many if not all clubs bring in funds from all over.. my initial point was many clubs have been more successful than us with a lot less funding.. RP seems to think success is all about funding, shopping at Harrods rather than Aldi. Of course it’s an advantage, we all know that. But also bringing a squad together with all the players gelling and singing from the same hymn sheet can also bring success, short term enough with also a bit of luck to get them promoted..
Many of the clubs that have bucked the system and gained promotion with limited funding have also bent the system, there are very few that haven’t. They have risked points deduction at least in order to get promoted, so yes some non PP clubs have achieved promotion but have had to cheat in order to do so.
All clubs’ funding is different - and FFP hasn’t always existed either. My comments were intended to highlight clubs that made it to the Prem by playing by the financial rules (of the time) and without the financial advantages of parachute payments.
Makes you wonder if it’s the only way Bristol City will make it to the big time, Seems like other clubs that don’t get the funding find a way.. The Blackpools, The Luton’s The Wigans etc unfashionable clubs at least get a glimpse..
I sure was, I blamed SL and Junior from day 1. Was I right ? Junior Failed at City with largest financial backing........ever.......sacked. Failed at Sunderland, the biggest side in L1.......sacked. On to the pub league at Hibs.......sacked. Now relegation spot with Fleetwood Town in L1. The trajectory of Junior's career, not just at City, proves I was right calling Lansdown out the day he employed Junior.
I post maybe once a week yesterday I went berserk and posted several times. Please remember when i do post to respond because my post are always absolute top top quality!! Harsh. I was about about day 150. Hasnt got it at this level.
owner decided needed a more experienced manager to continue the work done by LJ as they were in 3rd place 7 pts clear of 7th ... 6 games later were 3pts clear of 7th after gaining just 6 pts! ended season 4 pts above 7th in 5th after Plymouth dropped 10 pts of the last 12 played for ! they lost v WYCOMBE and drew v Sunderland! ......... so were lucky really to be in play off?
He created the foundations there and now they’re flying The next step was to progress….. Achieved…. It is possible!!
follow the threads ... sunderland was comment by RP .... LJ sacked ... so painted the wider picture! Had Plymouth picked up just half the 12 and other results not heavily favoured Sunderland they might not have made the play off's! How many managers get sacked for being 3rd [ week before they were 2nd! ] in the play off's positions and just a qtr of the saeason to go with 3 or 3 easy games to follow!
How did I know you'd mention Swansea winning?................ Breathing space for Duff - if they'd lost to the Wendies at home he'd have gone. He still may go if they lose at Millwall next weekend Sheffield Wednesday are easily the worst team so far in this season's Championship - mind you, you haven't played them yet.........
