Well another good win against one of the better teams. I think Pompey fielded their best team (except Ogilve - when fit). The back seven have been great this season as has Bishop. Robertson, Kamara, and Lane still have potential improvement in them but appear to be heading in the right direction. Perhaps the biggest improvement on last season though is the strength of the bench which should put us in good stead when the injuries/suspensions occur. The minor critism of yesterday I have was the late use of substitutes. If the team is chasing the game new forwards may give the opponents defence a different problem to solve if the current forwards are tiring and not threatening. But bringing on new defenders (Ragget & Towler) with only minutes to go does not give them time to adjust to the pace and rhythm of the game and enhances the chance of a critical mistake in my opinion. I sometimes think the subs must get extra appearance money if they are used and bringing them on helps keep them happy. Otherwise why? I'm sure they would prefer no involvement to ten minutes and the chance of injury. Anyway, onwards and hopefully upwards. PUP
