I don't have a Game Pass so I watch the Sky match every week so I'm really not complaining! I think the blackout rule is stupid though.
Vikings aquire RB Cam Akers from the Rams. Not giving up much at all in terms of draft picks so it's a low risk move.
Urgh, haven’t seen what they have given up but don’t like the move at all. Dalton Risner also signed which I think is a good addition
Just seen it is swapping 6th and 7th round picks in 2026, which is basically nothing and should be pretty easy to acquire a 6th round pick back in some form by 2026. Still this guy with very little production in a few years in the league commands a draft pick but Cook who was/possibly still is one of the best running backs in the league didnt. Mensah really hasn’t done anything as GM to inspire me that he is the answer long term.
There's very little to lose here though. He's still on his rookie deal so salary isn't an issue. Not giving up a draft pick anyone's going to lose sleep over. I don't mind this gamble TBH.
Yeah the compensation is basically nothing so I’m fine with that, even if I think the Vikings should be keeping all of our draft picks as they have too many holes and aren’t just a player or two away from being a contender. Mattison was never the answer at running back and was another head scratching move by Mensah to pay him like a starting running back when he clearly isn’t one. My main concern this year is that they end up with either a record like 7-10/8-9 which shouldn’t be enough for the playoffs and will give them like the 15th pick and mean they are unable to get any of the top QBs again. Or they are really bad and get a top 10, maybe even top 5 pick and let Mensah pick someone as his record so far with draft picks has been poor and they waste the pick. It’s more likely to be the first option I think as I can still see them winning 7/8 games even if they have lost one of their most winnable games already
TBH I see the Vikings going 9-8 or 8-9 and scraping into the play offs then getting beaten in the WC round again. Which is rather pointless. As the Bengals and others have shown, better to tank one year then draft a franchise QB.
Yeah that can definitely happen. I think between something like 2000 and 2017 the bills record range was something like 6-10 to 9-7, which meant they never made the playoffs and always picked in the teens in the draft. Epitome of mediocrity which is what I see as the future of the Vikings at the moment. Have also seen some suggestions that they trade everyone they can this year, including Darrisaw, Jefferson and Hockensen to build up draft capital for a full rebuild. It won’t happen of course but an interesting thought. I wonder what Jefferson would get in a trade, he is going to want a massive contract, not far off QB money and one really good receiver has never led to success for a team before. Paying Jefferson could really **** the team long term from being a contender unless they hit on a top QB in the draft and have him on the rookie deal for 4/5 years. I wouldn’t be in a rush to extend Jefferson until the end of the season. If the Vikings record is a top 10 pick then I’d try to extend him because they should be able to get a top talent at QB. If they are picking mid/late teens then I’d explore a trade as no point having one great receiver and not much anywhere else.
Zhang has such fast hands for a 20st man. Technically good too. He could give Fury some trouble, though he won’t want that smoke.
