We took 20 mins to get into the game with our changes, and Saints played well. Hutch, Willams and Taylor all playing well and we could be 2 or 3 up. McK will be happy.

Solid half. Hutchinson grew into the match, but was getting overly confident towards the end. Williams arguably lucky to stay on the pitch. Burns should have doubled the lead.

Generally a strong, organised performance. Southampton crowd getting on their team’s back, which is working for us.

Some decent players in that Southampton side. Incredible from Town again.

Wow, Ipswich of not so long ago would have thrown that one. 6 wins from 7 - insane. And yet still much to improve on.

Matt Holland just made the good point that the groundwork for this Season was started last Season,we were playing like a Championship side already and had recruited with that in mind.We didn't just kick our way out of the League, look what good that's done SW.

Great performance last night from Town, Saints had the better of the first 15 minutes and were always dangerous down the flanks but the defence stood firm and as in other matches we played our way into the game and once we had taken the lead no matter what the Saints tried came to nothing.
Hutchinson was man of the match for me but the entire mid field led by Sam the man were at times dominating the game and Woolfy and Burgess solid as rocks at the back, theres just one worry and that is that we dont score enough goals from promising situations, ok one goal was enough last night and at Sheffield but we cant be expected to keep a clean sheet every game, yes we came close a couple of times and had a goal disallowed for no particular reason but there will be times when one goal wont be enough.
So a great night at St Marys even in the rain at that soulless arena and nearly 3000 Townies went home happy even if some of us didnt get indoors until 3 30 am.

Not scoring enough goals and yet the second top scorers in the division. Not doing too badly!

As long as we keep scoring one more than the opposition I won't complain.

Thats right we are not doing badly and we have won our last two away matches with one goal each time, but we have also conceded six goals in our last two home matches so our defence isnt bomb proof, there were several chances to wrap this game up early but we didnt put them away and sometimes one goal wont be enough.

Just watched the replay as it wasn't posted yesterday.

Good performance, we took a while to get going but looked pretty comfortable after we did. Missed some decent chances but won the match and that's all that matters.

The introduction of players either with Premier League experience or on loan from PL teams was intuitive from McKenna. Williams and Hutchinson have that Prem mentality that benefited in this game. Scarlett also came on and didn't look lost in that situation. These lads are used to being in a premier league environment and weren't overawed playing against Southampton, I think that was vital and clever thinking from McK.

Yet another three points, we keep marching on. It's already shaping up to be an interesting season, let's enjoy the ride and see where it takes us.

I’d like to be optimistic and think that if we concede a goal we’ll attack the game and get another goal.

McKenna plays the statistics and he takes risks. So his strategy will be to set us up for scenarios that will get us results most of the time. If we concede a goal in 2 out of 10 games by sitting back defending deep to protect a lead and in one of those we can go and score another goal - he’ll do that to get us the 9 wins.

It all makes for some nervous watching as a supporter where our hearts are in winning that particular game.
