I take both of your points, about kids and women, Sandy. I just don't see any reason for this place to echo the likes of Brand with unnecessary foul language and treating schoolgirls and other women as lying conniving bitches. I understand why the likes of Brand, Andrew Tate and others have a following because some people admire them and want to be like them. But if people can post hate messages about women on here where do you draw the line ... ... Black people, disabled, Jack Colback
Fair point about the women, and I do apologise, I was pìssed last night and in an argumentative mood I still don't agree he should be banned though. And he isn't being hypocritical as all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty as written in law As for Brand, even if he is guilty he will more than likely win the case. It's certainly getting a lot of media attention like Schofield yet other pressing matters seem to get overlooked somewhat.
Excellent tweet on this from one of my favourite YouTube commentators, for both his political and pop culture takes (highly recommended).
Cheers Nig, no bother. Where I think he's being hypocritical is in defending Brand while branding the women as guilty despite having no facts ... ... he can't have it both ways. But my real point is that this board tends to be civil, if heated at times, and I don't think new people would be attracted to post if that was the tone ... at least not the kind of people I'd welcome. There are loads of websites and forums for endless shouting and insults, I just think this is a better place.
I think we're all, or most, probably guilty of "thinking out loud" on occasion . And at times hindsight is a wonderful thing Rooch mentions "slimy Brand" Imo aren't a lot of these so called celebrities, MP's and wannabes? It's certainly not the sort of circles I'd like to mix with.
Young girl at the time now saying a BBC chauffeur took her to Brand's house. If my 16 year old daughter came home and mentioned she'd agreed to a date with a 30 year old bloke who's on the front page of every paper every day and lauded as 'shagger of the year', I might have a word of advice or two.
If there was anybody that I had an irrational hatred toward, it was him. Now it seems I may now have a rational reason. Its just not the same!
Whenever stories of abuse come out there are people saying “Why didn’t they go to the police at the time?” It’s well known that the main feelings after being abused are shame and guilt. Even though there’s no blame to be attached to the victim. If the abuser is famous and popular, what’s the point of reporting it? No one’s going to believe you. And if the story comes out you’re going to be judged and insulted and have to live through the whole painful episode again. Sadly this is how people get away with years of abusing. If he’s found guilty I hope he ends up with some dirty cellmates.
I agree totally with the above. I guess the concerning thing for me is if they're concerned about being judged why have they gone to the media rather than the police? If he's guilty then he deserves to be a prison sex toy
Not being prejudicial to him one way or the other, but it could be that this investigation has been going on for a few years (apparently at least one year from what's been reported) and the investigators have approached them after finding out some details during its course. Then things have snowballed from there, especially if it's been an open secret for years. And if I wanted to be cynical, who's to say that this hasn't been held back by certain quarters as a bit of leverage over him? A bit of "compromat" that's now become worthless?
I think we can safely say we can forget about Russel Brand from now on, other than for laughing material
Predators are cunning, like the lion who picks out the baby zebra with a bit of a limp. Saville targeted starstruck kids, hospital patients and the mentally ill. Jeffrey Epstein, Harvey Weinstein and people like Brand coerce vulnerable people who are away from home, chasing a dream and wanting to believe in the person. It's like us with David Moyes
There's an interesting Twitter debate going on at the minute about how active he actually was on the comedy circuit that women were reportedly warning each other about his conduct on. Several hard working circuit comedians saying they saw him only once or twice over the course of fifteen odd years. The implication being he was created as a comedian through his TV work rather than the gigging and jumped straight from infrequent comedy club appearances to arenas because of it.
Brand is the type of a man who has encouraged the likes of Jimmy Saville. Alas, it would seem the whole of the TV, media, Lovey world is corrupt as feck with *****phile's and Nonce's yet no one in the likes of the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky etc call them out as they are to busy protecting their own kingdoms
I think the Rotherham grooming gangs illustrate the point you are making. The little lasses went to the police but it did them no good. Why would anyone wanting to report abuse expect anything different, especially when the alleged perpetrator is famous with powerful connections? Trust in the police has diminished alarmingly because of their cowardice.
I haven’t read all the posts and a little late to the party on this one. When he was in his prime around 2007, 2008 or 2009 he stayed in what used to be the Gosforth park Marriott he had loads on females in his room left it a mess with used condoms and different drugs all over room. He was a disgrace, like people have said surprised it has taken so long to come out. He was probably so high on drugs he most probably can’t remember and if he can he probably thinks he did nothing wrong.
