Daily Mail reader froth at the mouth about the past antics of a comedian…..meanwhile Baroness Mone has yet another week of living fancy free in luxury on her expensive yacht.
Seems strange that you're focusing on Brand as a comedian. Whether he's funny or not surely has nothing to do with what has come to light?
Do you have an opinion on Brand's misogynistic attitude towards women? Forget any allegations. There are plenty of recorded examples or do you think he was always just "joking"?
Who says I’m concentrating on that ?…was purely an observation and a continuation of the conversation as whole. After all, you were the one who first mentioned his “stuff” on the radio concerning the newsreader Bizarre post
At the time Brand was applauded for his attitudes….it was part of his act, which seems to have been also part of his personal life. The Sun, the most popular paper at the time, had him down as “shagger of the year” 3 times running. Personally I think he is a very interesting, and somewhat “odd” character who was of the time… As I’ve previously stated, my opinion is tainted and worthless
I agree that a lot of it was "of its time". I'm not commenting on his comedy as I think virtually nothing should be off the table when it comes to comedy and satire. I personally draw the line at really sick or tasteless comedy, but I accept that is purely subjective. In my opinion, the way he behaved was odious, but it remains to be seen whether any real evidence comes out concerning rape etc.
Maybe I misunderstood your post then, as I read your comment on the newsreader episode, and saw that as comment on his “act”. If he is guilty of some of the things he is accused of, then he gets what he deserves. A lot of my thoughts obviously come from my deep distrust of the media, I don’t trust them and I never will.
No, the newsreader thing was something he said live on air about the newsreader on his show. I think that betrayed his attitude towards women and she certainly took offence and complained. I presume you think all those comments were just part of his act and maybe you're right. I suspect otherwise.
Yeah I probably do. I’ve listened to a lot of his stuff and he has always played up to his “shagger” role. It’s part of his act. Only time will tell how dark his world was.
But this wasn't part of his stand up mate, it was aimed at a real person that he worked with and broadcasted on the airwaves. Not the same imo.
Fair enough. I definitely think it was wrong to use a real colleague in this way. As you say, we'll agree to differ.
My brother in law went to see the live show last night.......I mean, he paid actual money and made the effort to travel and all that malarkey. I can't think of a much worse torture. I'd rather be superglued to a surfboard by my todger and dragged through a ravenous pack of sharks by a speedboat live on television whilst wearing lederhosen.
Are we finally seeing the great collapse of the entire EU as predicted every week since 2016 or before? I’m excited.
