Seems like Lando has the full McL upgrade package for this race but Oscar just has some new bits. They couldn't make enough in time for this race but both should have the full upgrade package for next race.
One of my favourite races, the end of the circuit has changed to be a lot faster with the elimination of the final four 90 degree corners. It’s a bit disappointing because it’s one of the few places where the cameras could get really close to the cars.
OK so it's only FP2 but does anyone think the Technical Directive on Flexi Wings is slowing the Red Bulls down or is it just they messed up on setup?
Hard to say. I certainly am not expecting them to suddenly drop in to the pack with the advantage they have had. It would clear up a lot of the fog if they just said which teams brought about the need for a review of the regs. I mean if Red Bull found a loophole that's not been plugged, every other team had the same opportunity to exploit it.
it's Singapore. its the Monaco of the east. I know ow everyone wants red bul not to win every race but let's not get carried away with theories as to why this or that.
I think the Technical Directive on Flexi Wings is slowing the Red Bulls down. You are certainly on to something there,ched999uk.I`ve gone for Charles,Ferrari are really on it !!
I did think that at the last race Red Bull wasn't as quick in quali - I did wonder if that was due to less flexi wings - although I also thought why would they risk not getting 10 wins in a row when they didn't need to use less flexi wings until this weekend. I hope that this TD has brought the rest closer to Red Bull but then that brings up the question about if Red Bulls flexi wings where legal earlier in the season? There has always been the rules about non flexing aero surfaces.
Yes for now we take with a pinch of salt, especially when we think back to that random weekend in Singapore a few seasons back at the height of Merc dominance, they were just nowhere almost as if they’d been given hard tyres with the rest of the pack on soft? I think we might see that the TD reduces the dominance but that it still leaves RBR the fastest car on a Sunday, but obviously we need a couple of conventional tracks to see that. Suzuka perhaps more representative with its high speed suiting the RBR car on paper. Whilst Ferrari have looked excellent this weekend, I think McLaren are possibly best placed to spoil the party in quali with everything turned up. Alonso actually looked one of the most impressive on the small snapshot of long runs and if he can qualify P3/P4 I wouldn’t rule out an outside shot from the old maestro!
I do like the way the marshals just throw the bits into the cockpit! Good to see Stroll climbing out of the car. Maybe he has broken his hand!
For his own safety I think Daddy Stroll needs to call time on his career. He contributes the square root of **** all to Aston Martin other than some pride and ego to Lawrence- if AM are serious about contending then get someone in with Alonso who can get close to that world class level.
When was the last time a driver in a competitive car did a worse job than Stroll is this season? Even by his usual standards it's been dire
it's not that competitive, and being .5 slower than Alonso isn't terrible. He has nearly 50 points, if he was so god-awfullly terrible he'd have 0 points and never have got within a sniff of a podium, let alone 3. Grosjean was far worse and had almost a decade in f1 FFS. No, he'll never be a champion, but try looking beyond the hypocrisy of "daddy's money", they all have daddy's money.
