There’s an official Liverpool club shop in Chester, which is probably about similar in terms of Chester v York culturally and in football terms. I’d struggle to suggest that we’re comparable to the bin dippers though admittedly and am bemused by us doing it.
The Athletic have had the story for a while so presumably their lawyers will have looked at it very carefully, threatening to sue is classic diversion tactics of a guy that's got a very dodgy business history. It's now come to light that David Anderson, as he was, was disqualified for five years from any company directorship in 2015. David Hilton, as he now is, was listed as a director of several companies in 2017, he may yet have more trouble coming his way.
Tbf maybe there is the demand. Whenever I go into 1 of the 2 Sports Direct stores in York they never have any Hull City stock left. Always plenty of Man U, Liverpool, etc left in stock but never any City.
But if kids there start wearing City gear then in years to come there might be more City fans. Also get the Yank tourist crowd Build it and they will come…
oh I get the concept & I think it’s fantastic that they are trying new things. I mean it could work, but……….
i can confirm zero city shirts there! Tbh you don’t see any footy shirts apart from tourists in Chelsea shirts
When home I live near Pocklington and there are visible quite a few City shirts around and in turn when in York also some. But certainly Leeds in York are very much the prominent colours seen about. Certainly a brave move, and like one or two others have said, Beverley might have been a better bet.
Premier League Everton are set to have new owners after Farhad Moshiri agreed to sell his 94% stake in the club to American investment fund 777 Partners. The takeover would bring to an end the tumultuous tenure of British-Iranian Moshiri, who first invested in 2016. The sale is expected to be completed by the end of 2023, subject to Premier League, Football Association and Financial Conduct Authority approval. The takeover would mean half of the 20 top-flight clubs are American-owned.
