I don’t normally take notice of races but as we had my lads stepson in the great north run I did. He ran for a cancer charity, he’s quite sporty, boxing, football etc but we didn’t think he’d be any good at long distance running. He was dressed as Rick from Rick and morty, apparently it’s a cartoon, so not wearing sports wear. Mo Farrah came 4th, dillan came 20th…. He just sat there after having a cold drink as if nothing had happened, literally cool as a cucumber lol. To say we’re proud is a massive understatement, oh and he’s pretty good at boxing…. We’ll done Dillan we’ll be up to Newcastle soon to see your next fight. He’s just 15..
Well done Dillan! I watched a bit of the start on telly, I bet Eddie Howe's hands were sore by the end!
I think you might be getting mixed up with the elite men and then the rest of the race mate. Ian Butler of the US finished 20th.
Done it 3 times years ago. Came in the top 4000 out of 45000 in 1 hour 46 mins. Made £500 for Castle Hill Cancer Wards.
At 15yo it will be the Junior race probably. I think he'd be too young to enter the full half-marathon.
Whatever the elite race, best of the rest, or 10K race, you’ve every right to feel ultra proud Red Top, well done to Dillan, 15yrs old, so good to hear uplifting positive stories about young people, rather than usually just bad press, gangs, stabbing etc.
100% and I certainly didn't mean to piss on anyone's chips. As others have said at 15 in fancy dress in this heat it is an amazing achievement. I did it 3 times whilst I was a professional boxer so in good shape and used to running and it was bloody hard work. Dillon has done something today 95% of the population will never do and should be very proud of himself.
