I cant see us keeping a clean sheet so will go for a 2-1 but wont say who to!
Hopefully our break has given us plenty of time to tighten up the sloppy play we have suffered from recently.
Anyone else reckon Priskin could get another chance. He has scored in both Hungarys internationals (I think)

I can't see Hog keeping a clean sheet.

Priskin Scotland and Choppa upfront we will need goals if Sonko is out.

Allways amuses me, when people give score predictions for their own team, for the record, I think we are going to lose, we are in a bad run, teams are working us out, we do not appear to have alternative game plans, and hope my prediction is wrong.

I have a feeling we will start with the diamond.
    Edwards..Collins.. Inga..Cressy
    ............Bullard...........
    ...Andrews......Leadknob.....
    ............JET............
    ...Scotland......Chops.....
We will be two goals behind in thirty minutes and PJ will bring both Martin and Carson on for Leadbitter and JET to change the formation. It won't make any difference as we ship another goal before half time trying to chase the game. PJ then starts the second half by bringing Priskin on for a defender (whoever was the worst in the first half) as we go to a 3-4-3 formation. Somebody in the defence then gets a hamstring injury and has to come off leaving us with ten men. Another goal is scored against us just after this unfortunate event. Eight minutes before time Bullard is sent off for a second yellow card after he showed his frustration of playing the holding role and dives in with two feet. Nine men Ipswich rally together to score one back but it is too little too late. Final score 4-1 Forest
    Moral of the story-
Start with the personnel on the pitch to effectively change the formation without needing to make substitutions.

    Disclaimer.
    I seriously hope I'm wrong

" Hoping for a 3 . 0 win with town finding there form again after the 2 week break "

Well I hope for a 200 . 0 win but thats about as realistic as your hope !

" Priskin Scotland and Choppa upfront "

Thank god your not the manager is all I have to say. 4-3-3 with these 3 upfront away from home = an absolute HAMMERING.
We'd get completely over run in the midfield 3, lets be honest.

" I have a feeling we will start with the diamond. "

HORRIBLE feeling you MAY be right, however surely not.

I agree with the poster who says with Sonko being out, we need to outscore the opposition. I'd play...........

    Defence + Keeper as usual.

    Martin / Bullard / Andrews / Carson

    JET

    Chops.

I think Priskin had his chance v Donny and blew it. Scotland I'd definitely have back in the squad.

    Clearly, Leadbitter will definitely play.

I just hope we play with width, and have a go. Personally, I believe the diamond is fine against sides without a wide threat, however a side with one and its not working at present. PLEASE play width and have a go at Forest. I think if we get the first goal, their fans could get on their backs and we have a chance.

    Come on you blues !

I'd agree with you on the team westlake, perhaps with Andrews slightly deeper of the 2 CM's, although not played as a DM, I just worry when Bullard is our deepest midfielder. I would also play JET straight upfront as a striker, yes he may drop deeper than Chopra but I'm not a fan of him dropping back and making up numbers in the midfield, should be a pretty straight forward 4-4-2.

I'm no neccessarily a fan of this but we've been talking about different formations and in recent times I have not heard anyone say the formation which we have had most recent success with, under Burley and sometimes under Royle. That was the 5-3-2 formation with 3CB's and attacking fullbacks, this worked very well for us in the past, I know atm we have a lack of fit and decent CB's but it could be a possibility, so maybe this could be a team:

    Stockdale
    Ingimarsson, Sonko, Collins
    Edwards Cresswell
    Bullard, Andrews, Leadbitter
    Chopra, JET

Looking at this although I would prefer a more straightforward 4-4-2 and if we got more CB's in it could well work. Its fairly similar to the diamond in that the CM is crowded but at the same time we have better defensive cover because we have 3 CBs. It would also give our fullbacks license to get forward

I agree with your team (when all are fit) apart from Leadboots, i would put Carson in but i'm guessing we all know that aint gonna happen!!
Would be nice to see Sharp up top alongside Chopra but not so sure we will get Sharp. Talking of Sharp, did you guys see that Saunders is not best pleased with PJ for going public about his desire to bring Sharp in? One seems to recall PJ having a dig at a certain Pompy manager for doing the same thing!

Yeah, like I said its not my prefered formation, I would prefer us to play a pretty standard 442 with the team like Westlake said. But as an alternative formation and with regard to the personel we have I think 5-3-2 could work. The diamond isn't too bad when it works but its clear that it has obvious weaknesses particularly when we don't have the ball in the main. But I've never really been a fan of the 4-5-1 formation, I've never really seen it work for us.

I like the look of Sharp but not sure if Chopra and Sharp would compliment each other, although they have their differences they're similar players who like to occupy the same areas of the pitch.

Tbh i did find this a little strange that Jewell has publicaly stated his desire to bring Sharp in, although it was no secret that we bid for him in the summer and i geuss Jewell was not the one to let that out. I think there was a difference with Cotterhill who basically said that Norris wanted to sign for them, where as Jewell is just talking about a bid but still perhaps he could have been a little more discreet.

The thing that concerns me most is that Jewell has continued to say he would prefer to see Andrews in a more attacking role, which leads me to think that Bullard will continue in the defensive role. Andrews is decent going forward but not as good as Bullard and Bullard is rubbish at defending yet Andrews looks to have a decent defensive side to his game, please PJ drop him deeper and but Bullard further up the pitch!!!

Quite surprised some of you Ipswich fans are so pessimistic were not 20th in the league for no reason! Having said that we have started playing better since that twat McClaren has left and we do seem to play better away from home. We are missing some key players through injury so I can see this being a draw

PTC, I think Jewell is worried about keeping Andrews happy. He was played in a more defensive role at Blackburn and have heard several quotes attributed to him which suggests he was unhappy playing there. If we insist on the diamond then wouldnt it be better swapping Bullard for Leadbitter in one of the more advanced roles?

Yeah I think that is a concern for Jewell, I remember Andrews being frustrated at him being played in a more defensive role but tbh I think he would be really suited there, I can even see him as a half decent CB, although he does have decent attacking attributes aswell. I think he is best when the play is infront of him, he has a decent understanding of play and has a hell of a shot but I remember in a few matches when he gets further up the pitch trying this flicks and little one two's he's not quite so good.

As for playing leadbitter there, no I would not like to see this, although not totally against it if it means Bullard playing further up the pitch. Leadbitter from what I have seen cannot play there, infact I'm starting to go along with what a lot people say on here and starting to think we should get rid although it would mean getting some more CM's in or recalling Drury(who I'm a fan of). I think one of the reasons why estimations of leadbitter went down so much was because he was played in the DM position, where he clearly was not comfortable, although I think alot of that had to do with Norris racing up the pitch being half a mile away so he didn't have anyone to pass to.

IMO I think Andrews would do a really decent job in the slightly deeper role out of all the midfielders and should be played there over anyone else, however also I think that Bullard has to be on the pitch but I would prefer anyother midfielder including Leadbitter in the DM position than Bullard. Not only is his talent wasted there but he is a liability.
