The worst thing about the Sol (in terms of crowd) is the bellends who stand chatting and block the view from the main concourse. If people want to chat then they need to **** off underneath onto the concourse.
Aye. Sit down or fek off but don't stand in everyone's way ffs. If only we had stewards to prevent that sort of thing!
I'm way back in nrow 35 so it's not so much of ans issue but blocking the concourse does my head in. That's where Stevie needs to sort **** out
It's like sitting through two hours of Inspector Morse .. ... and switching off five minutes early so you never find out who did it
She was...she was loving every minute. I'd make her a regular. Another season ticket sold for life as soon as she's old enough! That's the story of our club for over 100 years. People look at our crowd numbers aghast.....they don't get that when you fall in love with them, you're hooked!
By LEWIS STEELE FOR THE DAILY MAIL UPDATED: 00:54, 8 September 2023 Future’s bright for Black Cats' youngsters Considering Southampton fans laughed as they poached striker Ross Stewart, ‘the Loch Ness Drogba’, from Sunderland on Deadline Day, it was amusing to see Saints slapped 5-0 by the Black Cats last weekend. It is nothing new to single out Tony Mowbray’s young team for praise, but the ages of their XI on Saturday read: 23; 21, 28, 23, 21; 21, 21; 20, 29, 22; 17. The 29 is Bradley Dack, rediscovering his best form in years after torrid luck with injuries. At the back, 28 is captain Luke O’Nien, who had a whirlwind week which included signing a new deal, dressing up as the Hulk at his daughter’s birthday party and then running into the sea to help a fully clothed lady rescue a Labrador! O’Nien has been getting a lot of banter from the rest of the lads, who make dog noises in the dressing room, but his form on and off the pitch sums up the feel-good atmosphere at the Stadium of Light. During that win, 19-year-old Costa Rican Jewison Bennette pulled off not one, not two but three Maradona turns before crossing to tee-up Chris Rigg for the fifth goal. Rigg, 16, had interest from Premier League clubs this summer, but stayed and his future looks bright.
Whilst at the match last week I was to be honest gobsmacked by our performance and on a day when the crowd should have been jumping and bouncing I thought we were a bit subdued at times, Thinking back I would probably say that a lot of supporters were just not sure how to react never mind sing and revel in the atmosphere. It has been mentioned on here a few times that as Sunderland fans we are just waiting for the next disaster, but since KLD and KS started their project we have had a lot more ups than downs and at some point the fanbase will start to believe, what I think they can only dare to suspect and at that point, the stadium will really start to bounce and as I have said before if we can get this club on a roll and string the 4 or 5 consecutive victories together that have eluded us for so long then that belief will really surge through the club. Here's hoping we can really get behind this team and roar them on to the victories I and I hope most fans believe they are capable of.
It's one that continues to baffle and irritate me. Couple in front of me always get there 5-6 mins into the game. The excuse is "just wanted one last pint" - it was 2-0 when they got in on Sat. The tense 1-0/2-1/2-3 games still has people leaving early (presumably to beat the queues at the Tavern) and I don't know how they can do it - I'm usually frozen in fear that we'll concede - maybe it's a self-preservation thing. People pay their money and have the right to watch as much or as little of the game as they want, but supporting a football club isn't like going to The Theatre or watching a movie - we're all in this together and whether it's the noise of 40,000 fans dragging the players over the line, or everyone staying until the end to clap those lads off the pitch it feels wrong to walk out when the game is still on. Every man on that pitch deserved to be applauded off on Saturday. It's a shame that there were only about 20,000 people still in the ground at the time
I'm only 10 miles away, but we are usually one of the last the leave the stadium (my Dad isn't the most mobile and my mate has his young 'un with him) then we rock up to a pub in Roker for a pint. Usually kill an hour or so with that and the roads are empty through Boldon/Cleadon/Shields/Tunnel by the time we go home.
Imagine going to a concert, then buggering off before the encore. No chance. I remember years ago at Roker Park staying and applauding the players off after a 4 nil defeat to Aston Villa. We were immense that night, Mark Bosnich had the game of his life.
I live two and a half hours away mate in Lincolnshire now (originally a sandancer) and we couldn’t believe the amount of people who left with 10 mins to go, we stayed and clapped the team off then headed back across the bridge for a quick pint then the long journey home? I understand some folks may have to get away for work etc but the stadium was pretty much empty when Rigg scored, I’m glad I witnessed it.
I agree and think it's a consequence of our past. We've shown promise from time to time, but never delivered. The closest we have come in the modern era would have been the Reidy 7th positions, but, even then,we lacked the means to build and stabilise on it. Our fans need belief....Heaven knows we've had enough false dawns....some just can't convince themselves it's not all going to go tits up at some point. I think it's why we get such negativity from some.....they're anticipating the fall and want to be on the right side of it,so they can be proved right. It's a kind of defence against ultimate disappointment. From my point of view,I'm an optimist by nature and everything I'm seeing under the KLD/KS led revolution so far leads me to believe this is the start of a sustained period of success. For the first time in a long time,I'm genuinely excited and thrilled with anticipation every time I watch this team.
I couldn't give a toss about people leaving early, their life their choice. I have stopped moving though, for dickheads that don't even sit in the same row, climbing behind from the rows in front or to the rear to exit at my row because I sit in an aisle seat, fcuk that, they can interrupt the people in their own rows.
