If IM being honest, just glad to get him out. Fortunately we made so much money this year, so that helps.

Yeah I do agree. If that’s the price I’m surprised it fell through with Genk though, as that’s where he wanted to go (back to) and they obviously wanted him back too.

This is true, Be interested to see if and when this goes through whether we will be privy to the financials.
Seems SR benefitted to, If Kerem Sen is also heading to Goetzepe

Whatever one's view of Paul is, I think it's reasonable to wish him well. We signed him, we couldn't then find a use for him. Whatever the issues there were, it's not entirely his fault he never really contributed to our effort to stay in the PL. I hope he finds more success with this move.

Absolutely, I'll be relieved for player and club we've found him a move so quickly.
Hope he does well, Just a awful transfer for us.

Slightly better than the Carrillo transfer as I think we just let him go for free in the end, but yeah awful business overall.

Can’t blame him though, and think he would’ve been alright this season as a different option.

We saw Carillo on the pitch though, we haven’t really seen Paul. Carillo was terrible. I’m not sure if Paul is a worse signing.

Yeah Carrillo was given many chances, including against league 2 opponents.

Paul doesn’t really feel like he was given a chance at all. We should have tried going more direct to him for a few games and tried to see what he can do.

But in his whole time here I think we delivered one cross to him. For all we know he could be an elite finisher.. find it hilarious to be honest

I know what you mean, and yes, I'd have liked to have seen him more too, but you have to imagine that they've seen way more of him in training, and that he was doggers.

He can obviously score goals in the right system, albeit probably not in the premier league. The Belgian league is a okay standard and he was brilliant there. I think he probably needs a team to play to his strengths and we have never done that whilst he has been here.

Definitely better than Carrillo. Both in terms of ability and the transfer outcome - at least we didn't pay his wages for long and got a few million back for him. Plus I doubt we paid anywhere near £18m for him if he has left so early, there will have been bonuses and various add ons included in that figure.

Exactly how I see it. I'm not buying the whole poor victim thing. If Tall Paul was doing everything in training, then he would have played more.

From the few times I watched him, he had surprisingly nifty feet, but was actually crap in the air. Very much like Crouch. Maybe tall guys can't jump very well or something. So playing it direct to him was a no-go really. AND he was slow as f*ck. Couldn't press at all. Yes he could have been useful in the box, if we'd have played early crosses in to him, but that's a very specific skill-set, which unfortunately places him in the 'luxury' class of player, which a relegation fighting team can ill afford to have on the field.

Come on, one defeat doesn’t put us into a relegation fight ;)

I actually think he could be somewhat decent in the Championship. We have the potential to absolutely bombard the opposition box with crosses, due to our constant possession. Against Wednesday we kept putting balls in, but of course it was Adam Armstrong in the middle. Good thing is, Ross Stewart is handy in the air.

Back to Paul, I think he must have decided he didn't really want to stay, and to be fair, you can't blame him.

While big strikers have historically done pretty well in the Championship, I think we're better off using that possession to play through defenses (which we have done quite well), rather than lumping the ball to a big guy. Being tall and immobile might be Onuachu's strength, but it's also something that many defenders at this level do reasonably well, too.

Is that the same injury that kept him out for ages with Saints?

Trabzonspor have also purchased Pepe from Arsenal for a similar amount (£3m)... Arsenal paid £72m for him a few years back. That has to be one of the worst transfers of all time?!
