The August nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month Award are:

Sam Morsy (Ipswich Town) – defensive midfielder
Captain of an Ipswich side determined to make an impact back in the Championship, Morsy breaks up play and drives forward in equal measure. He also contributed an assist against Stoke and earned an Egypt recall after five years away.

Gabriel Sara (Norwich City) - midfielder
A brilliant August for the Norwich playmaker, especially considering he had appendix surgery in the summer. A goal and two assists don’t tell the full story of his touch, vision and passing ability which created 17 chances in four games.

Ozan Tufan (Hull City) - striker
The Turkey international has brought class and nous to the Hull attack. Influential in the build-up and adept at converting chances, his four goals in four games featured a stunning strike in his hat-trick against Sheffield Wednesday.

Andre Vidigal (Stoke City) – wide attacker
The Portugal winger has won over the hearts of Stoke fans with his love of taking on defenders and late runs into the box. Has sparked Stoke’s attack into life with three goals in four games, including a brilliant winner against Watford.

Funny how he’s gone from defensive midfielder to striker. I still think he’d be better playing deeper, most his goals have come when arriving from deep too.

Well deserved, hopefully being nominated with give his confidence a boost.

On a slightly different thing, the goal of the month for August, what a set of cracking goals we are scoring, some really lovely football we are playing to make them.

Olay, Olay, Olay, Ozan Tufan, very well deserved, a great start to the season for him, his hunger & attitude for City a delight to see, a different level this season, he looks like he’s enjoying playing for us, such a pity he’s now out injured. Here’s hoping it’s only a short absence. UTT.

I’ve voted for him, but if I was being less partisan I admired the audacity of the Hedges one at the end.

I’d have to go with either the Blackburn or Brum goal, Oran’s goal is good, but the other 2 are better.
The Cardiff one reminds me of Geo v Arsenal!

I'd probably pick hedges as that first control over the defender was really well done.

Tufan's was comfortably better than the others though. The push, then bend into the top corner was amazing.

It really was special. Watching it in real time I remember at first thinking FFS why's he winding one up here, facing almost 90 degrees from goal. Then when the bend took it back inside the post after swinging out you could immediately see it was definitely going in.

If they had a camera shot from exactly where we were stood (directly behind the path of the ball) his would have won goal of the season!

Sky Bet Championship: Manager & Player of the Month nominees

The April nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month Award are:

    Neil Harris (Millwall)
Brought in to rescue Millwall’s season, Harris did exactly that, re-energising The Den with his side’s passion-packed performances, notably in the boisterous 1-0 victory over leaders Leicester, one of four wins in eight April games.

    Enzo Maresca (Leicester City)
When others might have wobbled after successive away defeats, Maresca maintained belief in his players and his methods to steer Leicester to three straight wins and the Championship title as they collected 15 points from seven games.

    Danny Rohl (Sheffield Wednesday)
Rohl has had to manage minds as well as bodies at Hillsborough. He finally led Wednesday out of the relegation zone with 11 points from six games. As crucial as three wins to that tally was a draw from 2-0 down at home to Norwich.

    Liam Rosenior (Hull City)
Rosenior’s side rose to the challenge of hunting down a play-off spot and kept focus on their possession football with purpose. They converted their chances, too. The result was 12 points and 15 goals, scoring three on four occasions.

The April nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month Award are:

    Che Adams (Southampton) – striker
Six goals in six April games for Adams, who rediscovered his prolific scoring touch just ahead of the promotion play-offs. Playing in the centre of a front three, he allied his natural poacher’s instincts to a clinical edge in front of goal.

Fabio Carvalho (Hull City) - striker
Five goals, of which his sweetly timed low volley at Cardiff stands out, and two assists from seven games for Carvalho. The loanee has fitted perfectly into Hull’s fluid attacking system since arriving in January, impressing too with his work-rate.

Emmanuel Latte Lath (Middlesbrough) - striker
The Ivorian scored half of his side’s goals in April, seven out of 14 in six games, and added an assist. To his work-rate and enthusiasm, he brought sureness of touch and a clinical accuracy whether finishing off team moves or solo runs.

Haydon Roberts (Bristol City) – central defender
The 21-year-old has grown into his role on the left side of a City back three which conceded just two goals in six games. Solid and strong on the ball, he is assured in possession and happy to go forward as he did to score at Norwich.
