I’ve just read the whole thing, they don’t hold back on the questioning tbf but a lot of it is just repetitive: https://theathletic.com/4831793/2023/09/05/jordan-henderson-interview-saudi/?amp=1 Essentially I think he was shocked that we didn’t reject the offer when it came in.
I've just taken 5 minutes to go and have a look. What he's said is unbelievable. I checked out the Klopp interview from July in which he says that he didn't want Henderson to leave but when he came to him with his decision, he had to react to that and knowing he wanted to leave, he wasn't going to put "rocks or stones in his way". What about all the personal tributes the players filmed for him. Trent had to get up and go because he was so upset. I wonder what the players are all thinking now. So very disappointing from Henderson.
I think it's old school attitude. If the club accepts an offer then it's time to leave, if you're important enough then the club rejects any offer that may arrive. The club works on modern ideas; the offer was too good to refuse so it's up to you, we don't want to lose you but makes sense financially.
I get that and I agree but he asked to leave. Klopp confirmed it. If he asked to leave, then he was lucky we didn't accept the first offer* for him which was £0. Klopp has said fairly recently that if a player asks to leave, he will drive them away himself. *obviously not an offer by definition.
Yeah I think he is very naive if he thought Klopp would say "no please don't go" once he'd told him he was thinking about leaving.
Henderson is really showing his true colours now. He enjoyed all of the positive PR that came with being an ambassador for LBGQT and LFC but this is a guy who spat his dummy out to win his crazy contract in 2021. Klopp backed this guy all the way. This interview is absolutely awful.
David Lynch reporting that Adrian will be left out of the EL squad which means Doak gets in. There is a 'loophole' that states, should it be necessary, you can draft in an emergency keeper.

the arrogance of him to say he'd like a testimonial as well is just astounding. he's gone for Treble the wages. made his own mind up and klopp facilitated him. Their Arthur mello.
the arrogance of him to say he'd like a testimonial as well is just astounding. he's gone for Treble the wages. made his own mind up and klopp facilitated him. the end. he has to know that there is no winning a he said she said argument with lfc fans against klopp. all he has managed to do is generate a don't let the door hit you on the way out feeling and followed it up by ensure most don't want to to ever darken said door again. jog on rainbow laces.
He's had a lot of criticism from groups he professes to support and it's obviously stung, so he's scratching round to try and find justification.
it's interesting thst he went and chose the most friendly possible journo/hack to ask the prepped questions as well. no chance of a garry neville expose here lol.
For all the negatives of him leaving how it was done etc. i still think he was the best captain we have had in modern times.
