I genuinely see us picking up at least 12 points. Could even be more. Saturday will have given Russell and the players a good kick up the arse and we have two weeks to work on stuff before our next game.
I'm guessing that these are the players that might remain with us for the week: GK: McCarthy, Lumley DEF: KWP, Holgate, Bree, Larios MID: Downes, Sulemana, Ryan Fraser, SAA, Alcaraz (although not sure if he's in Arg U21s) FOR: Armstrong, Stewart, Mara Didn't bother looking whether Djenepo and Onuachu have been called up for their countries.
McCarthy, Lumley, KWP, Bree, Holgate, Larios, Downes, Aribo(?), Charly, Charles, Fraser, Adarma, Tall Paul. Stephens and Stewart as well but they're injured.
See post above. Aribo has been called up for Nigeria somehow. Shea Charles is in the N Ire squad too unfortunately.
Martin will have to fill in to make up the numbers for a five-a-side then! Sulemana wasn't on the list on the article I saw, probably as he's returning from injury.
The troublesome RW position; Stuie can play there. i know RM said he won't pick him there, but desperate times and all that. For me we absolutely need Stu in the team. He's quality. But he isn't a CM, and we have Charly and Adarma as CAMs. Or, why not try KWP at RW? He pretty much plays that high anyway. I know that means Bree will have to play, but Bree-KWP is better than KWP-Mara.
I thought Manning was decent at Sheff Wed, but he hasn't been great defensively since. Could get to the stage where we need to play KWP at LB, but that would require Bree or maybe even Holgate at RB, and not sure I like either of those options.
I know, but that was before we sold Tella and didn't bring in a replacement. Mara was crap, and SAA is too young.
Scotland play England on Tuesday 12th Sept, and we have Leicester on Friday 15th. If Armstrong, Adams and Fraser play much of that game, I’m not sure they’ll start for us three days later. They might not even be back in training until the Thursday depending on when they travel home.
Once again Southampton FC serve up football that is far worse than even the most negative posters could possibly predict
