I remember there was one philosophy where we went for small players who were deemed to be too slight or diminutive for elite level sport. Though operating in the Belgian topflight, it struck me there was more than a bit about this with Moussa. He never kicked on in this regard too.
He wasn’t the worst player in the world, the fact that he kept getting game time shows how weak our attack has been in recent seasons.
I keep coming back on here just incase Everton wanted to terminate the loan deal for Holgate. OK, back tomorrow.
Tall paul’s move back to genk has fallen through apparently. Feel so sorry for him. He hasn’t been given a chance and now we’ve ruined his whole season potentially. Unless someone else comes in for him that still have the windows open. Shocking squad management from us.
Are you Tall Paul's agent or something? There are dozens of reasons why a move has fallen through - many of them out of the selling club's hands.
He wasn't signed for Russell Martin - he was signed for Nathan Jones. Playing to his strengths would involve hoofing the ball long all the time - not something I want us to do.
Which is exactly why I’m saying it was awful squad management. You’re just trying to disagree with me for the sake of it
How have we ruined his whole season? Specifically how has the club ruined it? And not playing him because the manager doesn’t rate him doesn’t count. He could move if he really wants. We’ve seen enough times that if there is enough will from a player then they will be out. But usually that is for higher wages - not lower ones. And that is the crux of it really
Ok so you’re weirdly defending the club signing a player that doesn’t match the style of the club at all , never playing him and when we do we make a tall target man try and play pressing football instead of playing to his strengths. This doesn’t seem like a very good argument to be worth having really. Very clearly the club has ****ed him over as a player. How much he earns is irrelevant to that.
If you don’t have an answer to the question then just say so Same if you don’t really want to address what I actually wrote and just make something up instead. You have no evidence that the collapse of his move away is down to the club and not the player or the agent. So why have we messed up his season - and we are talking about this season in particular. No denying we messed up his last season if we knew we were so close to sacking Jones. Same as Carrillo really. But he could have moved if he really wanted to. And we are not required to change a style of play for him But I don’t know why I bothered with all of the above if you don’t intend on reading or addressing it and plan on inventing stuff instead. Odd because in general you don’t do that in the on topic football threads
I don’t know the ins and outs of his transfer or it’s collapse, surely it’s up to him how this season goes for him, he trains, adapts and if he’s good enough he’ll get a chance, if not there is January.
We clearly don’t want him. If he wanted to go and play elsewhere he could have. He wants to go back to Genk but they don’t seem to want to meet our valuation. As far as I’m aware we just want what paid, which is fair enough.
I agree, don’t want to see hoofball either. But it’s good to have that as an option sometimes, when trailing in a game after 70 minutes of possession or high pressing. I don’t understand why managers are completely inflexible these days. They seem to have a very strong philosophy and are unwilling to deviate, even when it’s clearly not working.
Are you actually this thick? - he isn’t going to play for us - he is therefore unable to get any first team minutes this season - therefore his playing career is now massively impacted this season. Why is this so difficult for you?
Trabzonspor seem to be the destination for Tall Paul, Read that they've offered 2.2Million to loan with a option to buy.
