In Howe's defence. The man took a team destined for relegation and turned us around to finish mid-table. He worked wonders. The man then took a team that should have finished mid table to the top 4 and a cup final. He worked wonders. The man has improved a good few of our players who were previously shockingly ****. He worked wonders. Some will say this is the job of a coach. We now have potentially the best young right back, left back, centre back, central midfielder, left winger and striker in the country. The future should look bright. I don't normally have an issue with the way we play. I enjoy the 4-3-3. At times it's great to watch. Yes a plan B is required, I'd look at a 4-2-3-1 for this and possibly change this to plan A. There is clearly an issue with Bruno and Tonali playing together that he needs to work out quickly. If they both play we need to look at the 4-2-3-1 sooner. I don't understand why we never went after a right sided forward. That baffles me and disappoints me. I think Pope has had a poor 6 months. I thinks he's struggling mentally with his mistake before the cup final and its played on his mind ever since. He's not been the same player. I hope he improves quickly and rediscovers his best form. If he can't, he needs dropped. Howe has earned my trust, we're ahead of schedule and I really hope we put a good run together and move on from this quickly. We've managed to do this over previous blips. Some of the stuff I'm reading elsewhere is bonkers, people demanding his head, demanding Ashworth leave, even seen one stating Stavely should leave earlier. I'd love to know who people think would replace Howe at the minute because as far as I'm concerned it will be only 1 of 2 men. 1 of them has just gone back to Spain and one is in Rome and both play anti-football.
Who’s just talking about tonight? What did you expect Howe to say? We had chances to score before them and first goal is always important. Performance was very poor but the overreaction from some and personal attacks on our own people is definitely being a cra* fan. If the cap fits, wear it. If it hasn’t been eaten yet.
Howe gets credit when the side performs, so when it doesn't criticism is only fair. He's had another 170 million and people are making excuses for last night. That was a Steve Bruce performance last night, the players look completely soulless all pointing and moaning at each other while they jog around... Howe needs to sort this out...it's no good just saying we did well last season and we've had difficult games. Can Howe get a response? We'll find out in the next 3 fixtures.... needs to play our best players in the same 11 .... he's got to find a way to get the best players on the pitch together.
hopefully it makes a lot of the plastics crying on twitter **** off and free up tickets for the fans who remember where we have come from and support the lads through thick and thin.
Hmmm this seems a fallacy mate I've seen people wanting Howe sacked. Newcastle haven't looked great there's nothing wrong with pointing it out but unfortunately the Robson out brigade 'exist'
Howe got a lot of praise last season when we did well. It stands to reason that when things don’t go as well he deserves criticism. It’s fair. We have spent 400m. Thus he deserves to be criticised when we play ****. We have lost 3 on the bounce. That’s not good.
Exactly mate ... I mean there's being daft and wanting people sacked and dropped and there's simply saying they look poor and hoping the manager can turn it around.
It’s all got a little bit predictable. The play yesterday was flat. The subs are predictable. Managing against us is easy. The start has been poor.
After the 1st game the last 3 results and performances have been poor. Confidence is so underestimated and I firmly believe the issue is psychological as much as anything else right now. They need a win and need to try and gain some belief again. Once it's gone it's difficult to get it back. The body language looks the polar opposite to last season.
Agreed. It’s in the mindset. Last seasons bubble. Has burst. Burn at CB is a complete disaster. He brought on Lascelles for Taggart. Kept the new signings on the bench. Why?
The retired lower league taggart or the washed up Scottish drunken cop Taggart? Must have missed that…
I was as frustrated as the next man last night, not good at all, but it’s too early to be doom and gloom imo.
One thing everyone seems to remember about FFP is how much can be spent. One thing almost everyone seems to forget about FFP is wage percentage to revenue. We may have been able to pay a fee for a particular player eg Diaby but he would have high wage demands which would impact upon our ability now and going forward to comply with the wage/revenue percentage required. That for me is why younger promising players are being bought as generally speaking their wages are lower and enable us to comply with all parts of FFP. Due to FFP we can’t just buy who we want when we want. We seemed interested in Diaby and could easily afford the fee. It was the entire package that caused the issue I would guess. Whilst our revenue is grown we have to box clever something some of our fans are clearly incapable of.
Barnes package couldn’t have been cheap. Tonali too. Neither were a priority position. But similarly I don’t get it, don’t we have 3 years to balance the books? The adidas deal alone must make a huge impact. Where would we be if this was the current line up; Pope Trippier Silva Botman Hall Tonali Bruno Diaby Maddison Gordon Isak
I'd expect Howe to say they were way, way below expectations and the players need to work hard in training as a slump is unacceptable after the money spent. Especially after one of the most hopeless second half's in years at St James' previously. Instead he said they played fine. Previous game he said we played really good but were robbed as Liverpool didn't have 9 men. I think recruitment beyond this FFP talk has been way below mediocre. It's been 2 and half years with 400m spent and we are still rotating Bruce players with Bruce players. Howe doing his Klopp routine every time we lose is getting old though. If Klopp said the things Howe does everyone on here would be foaming.
