Fair play lads. Outplayed and outmanaged today. Jack Clarke looks some player. Good luck for the rest of the season (apart from the return, obviously).

Another great performance from O'Nien wasn't it. Him and Ballard refused to be beaten and he nearly scored a worldlie.

at kick off i felt 'the season starts now', dunno why but probably with the window being slammed and the lads did not let me down.

this squad has no fear, southampton are one that was to be worried about yet the lads went straight into the game and never let off.

think every single player made a mistake somewhere along the line but each and every one recovered well, the ref had a good attempt at making the game something to forget about but he failed as much as the southampton team.

bellingham and onien were fairly quiet today i think although they both contributed, hume seems to enjoy the 'HUUUUUME' shouts now after every tackle, ballard back to his commanding best and cirkin back to his best running, him and clarke complimented each other well, 'yaya' ekwah will command many a midfield, he just improves every game with dack allowed to run around the pitch along with dan neil picking the ball up and moving it on it all looks good.

subs again were spot on, just gutted for hemir as he was as close to his goal as he ever will be without scoring (if you know what i mean) well composed and never hurried a thing, i am sure he will get into his swing once the first one goes in...and the best was saved till last, jewi and rigg.

MotM has to be ekwah for me with clarke a very close runner up, just a quick word to the southampton faithful though...heard them singing near the end, it's hard to get behind your club on a day with such an early start and long travel besides the result but credit to them, they tried to do their bit.

That was an absolutely outstanding performance. Very difficult to pick a man of the match. If I don't mention a player, they were still an 8/10.

Trai Hume was imperious. Really resolute in defence where he closed down any attacking threat on that flank and provided that superb cross for the opener.

Dack is a strange one. Less energy and game involvement than Pritch for sure, but he seems to save all of his energy for creativity around the box. He'll do little in a game but get a goal or an assist.

Ba had a superb game, picking up a couple of assists and being a threat all game. He's still raw but a big outlet for us today.

I can't really split Ekwah and Clarke today. They were both sensational. Pierre, not just for his 2 goals, but he made some crucial tackles in the middle and some good passes too. I'm giving the nod to Jack Clarke though. A performance so good that Walker-Peters got moved to the other flank. Clarke dominated the transition today and his driving runs in behind were unstoppable. To add to that, he did it less than 24 hours after a load of speculation about his leaving.

Jack Clarke Man of the match.

The final words though are for Chris Rigg. He looks like he's developed so much physically, even since we saw him at Fulham. His home league debut today and he didn't look phased at all. He topped it off with a great goal and looked delighted. In 150 minutes of football, he's scored 2 goals, got an assist and had a goal disallowed. At 15/16 years old!! He's the real deal.

I've said nothing, because I didn't want to spoil the mood, but I've lived through a week that would cripple most people. I'm proud that I've found the Reiver strength to come through it all.

However, the pride I have in my club has transcended the terrible time I've been through. Love today people because this is what counts, make no mistake.

Don't hesitate to be proud, we totally deserve tonight.

Didn’t really have anything to do to be fair, our midfield was top drawer today sniffed out anything before they had a chance. Can only really remember the 2 chances in the first half one flashed across the box and Edozie fluffing a free shot at goal.

Ballard playing on after going down screaming gave me anxiety though.

Absolutely great performance that. Every man was amazing. Ballard was incredible at centre back today. Had Adams in his pocket
